Chapter 187: Pushing David Into the Water

Chapter 187 Pushing David into the Water

(Sophia Rivera's POV)

David Blackthorne’s fingers twitched violently against the wheelchair armrest. His damaged body trembled with

the desperate need to break free from his physical prison.

He wanted to scream, to deny my words, to defend Elena. But all he could manage was a strangled whimper that

escaped his throat.

His eyes reddened with tears of frustration and anguish. The sight filledwith dark satisfaction

| imagined Elena’s face contorting with the spain when she discovered what had happened to her precious

foster brother. The thought made my heart race with anticipation.

“Poor David,” | whispered, leaning closer to his ear. “She abandoned you for her real family. You mean nothing to

her now.”

His breathing becmore labored. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he struggled against his paralyzed vocal

cords.

| stood up slowly, savoring his helplessness. This was exactly the kind of suffering Elena deserved to

witness.

My hand moved to the wheelchair’s brake lever. The metallic click echoed in the quiet lakeside air as |

released it.

The wheelchair sat on a slight incline leading down to the Moonstone Reflecting Pool. Gravity began its

inevitable work.

David's eyes widened in terror as he felt the chair begin to roll. His fingers clawed uselessly at the armrests.

The wheels turned slowly at first, then gained momentum on the sloping ground. Each rotation brought him

closer to the water's edge.

| watched with cold fascination as panic flooded his features. He couldn't call for help, couldn't stop himself,

couldn’t do anything but wait for the inevitable.

The wheelchair picked up speed. David's mouth opened in a silent scream as he realized what was about to

happen.

He closed his eyes in despair, accepting his fate. The chair rolled faster toward the dark water below.

“Stop!”

Rachel Thompson's voice cut through the air like a blade. She burst from behind a cluster of trees, running at

full speed toward the pool.

My expression changed drastically. This wasn’t supposed to happen. No one was supposed to witness this.

David and his wheelchair plunged into the Moonstone Reflecting Pool with a tremendous splash. Water erupted

around them as they disappeared beneath the surface.

Rachel didn’t hesitate for even a second. She dove into the cold water without removing her shoes or jacket.

Chapter 187 Foshan Gavid nito the Water

| stood frozen, watching her swim desperately toward David's submerged form. This was ruining everything

Before | could react of flee, more voices approached from the path behind me.

“Over here!” Jane Ports called out, leading Hugo Ashworth and Dr. Edmond Fisher toward the commotion

My heart hammered against my ribs. | quickly pulled my hat down over my face and turned to run

| couldn’t let them see me. | couldn’t let them identifyas the one responsible for this.

(God's POV)

“Stop!” Dr. Fisher shouted, giving chase to the fleeing figure in the hat.

Sophia ran toward the crowded area of the park, her heels clicking frantically against the stone pathway. Dr.

Fisher's longer strides were closing the distance between them.

Just as he was about to reach her, Sophia grabbed a random pack member walking nearby. She shoved the

innocent bystander directly into Dr. Fisher's path.

“Are you crazy?” the pack member cursed angrily as he stumbled. “Are you in such a hurry to go to hell?”

Dr. Fisher had to pause to avoid colliding with the confused bystander. By the the looked up again, the

woman had vanished into the crowd.

He stood there panting, scanning the sea of faces for any sign of her distinctive hat. She had disappeared

completely.

Meanwhile, Rachel surfaced from the pool with David's unconscious form. Hugo and Jane rushed to the

water’s edge to help pull them both to safety.

David had choked on water and lost consciousness. His body shivered violently from the cold lake water.

Hugo immediately knelt beside him and began performing CPR. He pressed rhythmically on David's chest,

counting compressions under his breath.

After several tense moments, David suddenly coughed up a stream of water. His eyes fluttered open as

consciousness returned.

His entire body trembled uncontrollably from the cold and shock. Hugo quickly removed his own coat and

wrapped it around David's shaking form.

Jane called the medical staff from the nearby Shadowmere Private Healing Sanctuary. Within minutes,

paramedics arrived with a stretcher.

They carefully transferred David from Hugo’s coat to warm blankets before rushing him to the emergency room

for examination. The three friends followed closely behind.

Outside the emergency corridor, a pack nurse handed Rachel a dry towel. Jane helped her squeeze water

from her soaked hair.

“Luckily we arrived in time,” Jane said with relief. “And thankfully you know how to swim, or he would have really

died here.”

Rachel was about to respond when Dr. Fisher returned, breathing heavily from his chase. Sweat beaded on his

forehead despite the cool air.

“Did you get her?” Jane asked immediately.

“That woman runs pretty fast, Dr. Fisher panted, hands on his hips. 1 almost caught up to her but are of a dirty

trick on me!”

After catching his breath, he looked at them curiously. “So who exactly is this woman?

Jane shook her head and looked at Rachel expectantly, Rachel's expression darkened with anger

“She is Sophia Rivers, Rachel said quietly.

“Oh, it’s her.” Dr. Fisher sneered with recognition. “That former Luna candidate of Marcus Blackwood’s, no

wonder...”

His words trailed off as his eyes darted toward Hugo, who had remained silent throughout the conversation.

Dr. Fisher leaned closer to him.

“You were pretty anxious just now,” he whispered with a knowing look.

Hugo glanced at him coolly. “I was just acting out of professional duty.”

Dr. Fisher chuckled but said nothing more. The tension between them was palpable.

The emergency room doctor emerged after completing David's examination. His expression was serious but

not alarmed.

“Which of you is David's family?” he asked, looking between the three of them.

Rachel blurted out without thinking, “We all are...”

The doctor glanced at them skeptically but didn’t press the issue further. Medical privacy wasn’t his primary

concern right now.

“Besides his existing neurological dysfunction, the fall into the water caused sstimulation,” he explained.

“But there are no other problems at the moment. You don’t need to worry too much.”

“Thank you,” they said in unison, relief evident in their voices.

“You're welcome,” the doctor replied before walking away to attend to other patients.

Jane turned to the group with concern. “That woman didn’t succeed, but I'm worried she’ll cback. Should we

leave someone to watch over him?”

Dr. Fisher crossed his arms thoughtfully. “No need. It’s safer for him to be transferred to our hospital.”

“Are you going to handle the procedures for him?” Jane asked.

“Isn't there Dr. Ashworth?” Dr. Fisher put his hand on Hugo's shoulder with a grin. “A little bit of networking,

right?”

Jane and Rachel both looked at Hugo expectantly. He remained silent, his expression unreadable.

(Elena Blackwood’s POV)

When | received Rachel's call, | walked out of Marcus's recovery chamber to answer it privately. The sterile

hospital corridor felt suddenly oppressive.

“Rachel? What's wrong?” | asked, sensing urgency in her voice.

Rachel's words hitlike physical blows as she recounted everything that had happened. Sophia’s cruel taunts,

David's helpless terror, his fall into the pool.
