Chapter 8:

Belinda frowned at Kristopher’s words. “Kristopher, have you not been hfor days?”

He seemed oblivious to her desire for a divorce, still assuming she orbited his world.

Kristopher’s smirk turned icy. “So, because | haven't been home, you chasedall the way to Rozand to crash

this party?” His frosty tone sent a chill through Belinda’s heart.

She knew she had guessed correctly.

A week after her miscarriage, her legal husband had yet to return home, unaware she had left him with a divorce

agreement.

Despite her diminished expectations for Kristopher, his absurd remarks still cut deep.

What had made her so unyieldingly stubborn before?

Why had she believed her devotion could touch a man who never even gave her a second look?

Belinda’s eyes, once filled with love and hope, now held only disdain as she looked at Kristopher, prompting him

to raise an eyebrow in surprise.

The old Belinda always gazed at him with warmth and aspiration. But now, her gaze... It was as if she were

looking at a complete stranger.

A wave of irritation swept over Kristopher, and he shot her a piercing look. “Speak!”

“Mr. Cox?”

Jolted from her reverie, Belinda released her hand from Kristopher’s and flashed an icy smile. “When do you

want to sign the divorce papers and go to court with me, Mr. Cox?”

A flicker of confusion crossed Kristopher’s eyes, his tone turning frosty. “What are you talking about?”

“You'll see when you get home,” she remarked with a sly grin.

“Hopefully, our next meeting will be at the court to finalize things.” She then forcefully freed her wrist from his

grasp and strode off quickly.

Kristopher’s brow creased, and he nearly ran after her for an explanation.

But then the music changed, signaling a partner swap.

Cathy broke away from Darren and rushed to Kristopher, exclaiming, “You're a much better dancer, Kristopher!”

She snuggled against him, playfully grumbling, “That man was so rough. He stepped on my toes multiple times!”

Distracted by Cathy, Kristopher’s attention shifted from Belinda.

Looking up once more, he saw Belinda exiting with Darren.

He even considerately draped his jacket over her shoulders.

Watching this, Kristopher felt a pang in his chest and a sudden urge to follow her.

“Kristopher,” Cathy said as she grabbed his hand, casting a worried glance at Belinda's retreating figure. “Is

something wrong? Did Belinda upset you?”

“Cathy,” Kristopher murmured, his brows knitting together as he gently shook off her grip. “I need to handle

something. Enjoy the party.” With that declaration, he turned and walked briskly in the direction Belinda had

gone.

“Ah—!" Cathy's startled cry cut through the air.

Kristopher had only taken a few steps when a loud crash echoed behind him, followed by Cathy's agonized

scream. He turned around, his expression darkening into a frown.

Behind him, Cathy had inexplicably slammed into stacked tall glasses. The glasses tumbled in an instant,

shattering on the floor as shards flew in all directions, mingling with droplets of blood.

“Cathy!” Kristopher exclaimed.

Rushing back, he saw Cathy’s dress soaked in blood. He quickly lifted her, concern etched on his face. “Are you

alright?”
