Chapter 317:
She then smiled warmly at Jessa. “We're not going to call the police or have you locked up.”
Looking at her smile, Jessa finally calmed down and breathed a long sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Cathy.”
Jessa wiped away her tears and said, “I knew you wouldn’t blme.” After saying that, she looked
apologetically at Kristopher and said, “Mr. Cox, | hired an actor to trick you... | apologize! | realize | was wrong.
I'm truly sorry!”
Kristopher merely squinted at her, saying nothing.
Seeing no response from Kristopher, Jessa turned back to Cathy and said, “Cathy, | was... just terrified to hear
you were back in the hospital. I'd feel terrible if it was my fault...”
“It has nothing to do with you being in the hospital.”
Cathy sighed again and clarified, “Miss Nelson misunderstood, thinking | had orchestrated those online trolls as
revenge. Honestly, | don’t care about the nasty things she said about me...”
She glanced toward Kristopher instinctively and continued, “But those people she hired went on to say
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKristopher cheated on her and called him terrible names...”
Cathy wiped her tears as she said, “I just felt so upset and frustrated hearing them slander Kristopher like
that...”
“Mr. Cox.”
In the corridor, Marc had taken care of all the arrangements. As soon as he stepped into the ward, he found
Cathy and Jessa—one leaning against the head of the bed in tears, and the other kneeling on the floor, also
crying.
Marc was taken aback and glanced at Kristopher in confusion. “This...?”
Kristopher, who had been leaning against the doorway, shifted his gaze from Cathy and turned to Marc. “Did you
manage to make all the contacts?”

“Yes,” Marc replied earnestly. “Miss Nelson has already left her place. She mentioned she was near Cox Manor
and would arrive in about twenty minutes. But...”
Marc hesitated before continuing, “Miss Nelson made a request. She wants you to bring Miss Miller—and Miss
Miller's agent, Jessa—along with you.”
Kristopher raised his eyebrows, questioning, “With Jessa?”
“Yes, Miss Nelson mentioned she has sunresolved issues with Jessa.”
Marc went on, “I asked Miss Nelson about the nature of these personal matters. She said we'd understand once
we get there.” With that, Marc scratched his head, clearly puzzled, and glanced at Jessa. “I can’t see much of a
connection between Miss Nelson and Jessa.”
“Cathy is what links them.”
After uttering these words indifferently, Kristopher walked into the ward.
Kristopher’s deep, cold voice cut through the women’s tears. “Jessa, stand up. Cathy and | have moved past our
previous issues.” At his words, Jessa’s tears stopped immediately, and she looked up at him in astonishment.
“Mr. Cox, thank you.” Her guess had been right. Kristopher deeply cared for Cathy. Despite her faults, he was
willing to overlook them.
Before Jessa could hide her smile, Kristopher said indifferently, “I'm taking Cathy to my grandfather's place to
sort something out. You're coming too.”
Jessa was stunned for a moment before responding hesitantly, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
