Chapter 265:
“Wait!” Kristopher’s voice halted her progress. He hesitated briefly before continuing. “Please let her know it
might take a bit of time. There's... something | have to arrange with my grandfather first.”
The agent paused, processing his words. “I understand... that’s fine,” she replied, managing a strained smile.
“I'm sure it won't pose any issue, Mr. Cox. Cathy can wait, | believe.”
Then she turned and moved swiftly toward the ward.
Meanwhile, Kristopher stood motionless, his gaze fixed on the ward's direction, his face a mask of stoic
contemplation.
Belinda, who had observed the entire exchange, couldn't suppress a sneer. Only moments ago, in front of
Anthony, Kristopher had declared his engagement to Cathy a mere convenience, a temporary solution... Why did
he feel the need to invite Anthony to a fake engagement? Was it really necessary for his family to cand give
their blessing at a staged event?
As he stood in the corridor, a frown marred Kristopher’s features. Abruptly, he turned, his piercing gaze locking

back, trying to blend into the shadows behind the door.
Why was he looking this way all of a sudden? Could he have spotted her? Impossible! She was sure she had
concealed herself well enough.
“Belinda.” Kristopher’s cold tone cut through her frantic thoughts. Frozen behind the door, Belinda was unable to
move, as if under a spell.
She reluctantly lifted her gaze toward Kristopher.
By now, he had approached and was pulling open the metal door. Gripping the doorknob tightly, Belinda braced
herself, praying he hadn’t seen her. The discomfort of overhearing her ex-husband’s conversation was bad
enough, but the subject being her added an extra layer of embarrassment.
“I know you're behind the door,” Kristopher announced with a snort.

The moment he finished, he swung the metal door open. Their eyes locked immediately. Trapped, Belinda had no
choice but to face him and muster a weak, “Hello.”
“Since when did you pick up the bad habit of eavesdropping?” he asked, leaning casually against the wall, arms
crossed, an amused look in his eyes. “I figured you'd cout during my chat with grandpa. You really are
patient.”
“You... You knew | was there all along?” Belinda’s voice was tinged with surprise as she looked up at him.
Kristopher simply smiled faintly, choosing to remain silent.
Belinda’s brow furrowed in confusion. “When you asked Anthony if he would agree to help if | begged him for you
and Cathy... was it because you knew | was listening?”
Kristopher raised an eyebrow, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “Not exactly. | really want you to persuade him to
accept Cathy.”
Belinda was momentarily taken aback.
Without thinking, she looked up and locked eyes with Kristopher, whose gaze was intense.
A slight tension gripped her heart.
Having lived with him for three years, she knew Kristopher too well. Such a look from him signaled that his words
were serious.
