Chapter 427

"Gideon, as much as | dislike Yvette, it's entirely this woman's fault that she lost the baby!" Fleur fumed, pointing

an accusatory finger at Calliope.

"Calliope, how are you going to make up for the loss of my grandson?" she demanded. "You caused the

miscarriage. How could you be so heartless? Are you still holding a grudge againstfor not treating you well in

the past?"

"If she were holding a grudge, you would've been out of the Baker family a long tago," Silas retorted coldly,

defending Calliope. "My wife has put so much effort into organizing this wedding. Even if she were mad, she

wouldn't do something like this. You should ask your precious daughter-in-law what she's done!"

A member of the Jansen family interjected, arms crossed defiantly, "This is practically murder! Our Yvette was

pushed by her! Yvette was about to get married; why would she harm herself like that? She loved that baby."

The Jansen family members were visibly furious, glaring at Calliope with hostility. "Now that the baby's gone,

you'll have to pay up! How much do you think a life is worth?"

Calliope chuckled softly at their theatrics. Rather than rushing Yvette to the hospital, they seemed more

interested in milking the situation for money.

"Let's head to the banquet hall," Calliope suggested to the crowd, "and bring the bride along."

With that, she and Silas turned and cut through the throng, making their way to the banquet hall. As Calliope

turned, Yvette felt a pang of unease. Calliope was smiling, which seemed oddly out of place given the

circumstances.

The Jansen family helped Yvette to her feet, clearly more interested in their schthan her well-being, and

followed Calliope's lead toward the hall.

Gideon's face was a storm of emotions. He shot Yvette a look of pure disdain. Where he once felt protective of

her, now he felt only disgust.

Fleur, walking beside Gideon, lamented the loss of the unborn child. "Does Calliope still have

feelings for you? Is that wh

so

"Mom, it's not her fault," Gideon replied, his voice icy. "You'll see what | mean in the banquet hall."

"What do you mean?" Fleur asked, suspicion tinging her voice, though she quickened her pace.

The guests, buzzing with curiosity, followed them back to the banquet hall. Inside, swho hadn't ventured out

were still gathered, engrossed in conversation about the unfolding on the big screen.

Calliope and Silas returned to their seats. Calliope turned to Eamon, the family patriarch. "I'm sorry."

"This isn't your fault," Eamon reassured her, having remained at the table throughout the chaos, flanked by

Dahlia and Calista.

"Exactly, Callie, we all saw what happened" Verity chimed in, shaking her head in disbelief. "Yvette seemed so

meek, but to pull a stunt like this at her own wedding and try to fryou? Unbelievable!"

Calista added, "Our cousin really can't judge character."

Dahlia nodded in agreement, "He missed out on Callie and ended up with such a mess."

A collective sigh rippled through the group.

Verity glanced at Eamon, "This wedding's ruined, and it's making us a laughingstock. We don't need to be nice to

Yvette anymore!"
