Chapter 304

"Callie, con. It's a tiny favor we're asking for," Horapleaded softly, looking at Calliope hopefully. "Help us

out, please."

Calliope glanced at Horatio, her expression unreadable. She stayed silent. In her mind, he was just like the rest

of them.

"Calliope, our patience is wearing thin!" Valerian snapped, frustration creeping into his voice. "When we ask you

nicely, it's best to agree!"

"Or what?" Calliope retorted, raising an eyebrow. "Are you threateningnow?"

Valerian gritted his teeth, glaring at her. Try as he might, there was nothing he could use to corner Calliope.

She wasn't the sperson she used to be. She no longer played nice just to win favor. And she certainly wasn't

homeless anymore. The place she lived now made their hlook like a shabby motel by comparison.

"Go ahead. Give it a shot." Calliope's voice was calm, her face serene. "I'll be impressed if you can intimidate

me."

Ulysses looked sour, not expecting Calliope to be this difficult. With Silas backing her, she seemed untouchable,

doing whatever she pleased.

"Calliope, you can't go around acting all high and mighty. Have you ever thought about the consequences?"

Ulysses warned. "What if Silas leaves you one day? You think you won't crunning back to us? Right now,

we're offering you a chance."

"She won't need to," a voice interjected from behind them.

Silas had appeared, entering the room with an air of authority that made everyone else seem insignificant.

His presence was commanding, and he made his way over to Calliope. "Honey, I'm back," he said, his eyes

softening as he looked at her.

Calliope nodded in acknowledgment.

"I'm not leaving her unless she doesn't wantanymore," Silas declared confidently. "And even if she does

leave me, she won't need to ccrawling to you. I'd leave with nothing, and she'd still be wealthier than the

lot of you."

His words left Valerian and the others speechless, their expressions souring.

"Mr. Myers, aren't you spoiling her too much?" Valerian asked, frowning. "Does she deserve it?"

"Absolutely Silas chuckled, a warm affection in his gaze as he looked at Calliope. But when he looked back at

them, his eyes were cold and sharp. "If she doesn't, then no one does."

"You'll regret it, Mr. Myers," Valerian insisted. "She has so many flaws!"

Silas sneered, "So what? | like her flaws and all."

Valerian was at a loss for words.

"Mr. Myers, don't you think she lacks empathy? If she can treat us this way, she might do the sto you,"

Ulysses accused with a sly grin." something happens to you, she

won't care. She'll be just as cote-hearted when you need her!"

"She's a viper! Keep a woman like that close, and she'll bite you one day!"

"Oh?" Silas said as he sat beside Calliope, crossing his legs and looking at Ulysses with amusement. "Even if

she's exactly as you say, | still love her."

Ulysses was speechless, wondering if Silas had lost his mind.

"Callie, please help us, okay?" Monty interjected, ignoring Silas and turning back to Calliope. "Even if you don't

help, tellyour connection with Mr. Lopez, at least, okay?"
