Lukas breathed a sigh of relief, and his tone was more serious than ever before, "Baby, no matter what fate has
in store, | promise you won't suffer in vain."
Reese's eyes welled up again, but she fought back the tears and raised her chin in determination.
Her voice trembled slightly, "I believe you."
Lukas could hear the emotion in Reese's words over the phone.
Tenderly, he asked, "Believe what, my love?"
Reese reached up to her face and wiped away the tears that had dared to escape, "I believe that you are going
to protect me."
When Lukas heard what she said, all he wanted to do was hold her in his arms and comfort her, but it was a pity
that he was still on the airport expressway, miles away from her.
He thought of the person behind him and a stern look flashed in his eyes. When he spoke to Reese, his tone was

confidence!"
Reese's ears blushed with a mix of relief and affection, "I understand. I'm relieved to know that you're back in
Switzerland. I'm on my way to the hospital now."
Lukas felt a warmth in his heart at Reese's concern for his well-being in spite of her own troubles. How could he
not admire her?
He nodded, his voice soft, "You go ahead. I'll join you soon."
After ending the call, Lukas turned to the driver, "Taketo Rivers Health Medical Center."
On the way, he unlocked his phone and was greeted with a series of disturbing messages. The messages
included explicit images of Reese that were circulating on various social media platforms.
Lukas's expression was dark and frightening. The driver, sensing the change, glanced nervously at Lukas through
the rearview mirror and held his breath.
Lukas checked a few messages and understood exactly what was going on. He dialed Clive Parker directly,
"Clive, | need your help with an investigation. | want to know the
identity of the woman in
compromising photos, the one who looks like Reese, in the shortest amount of tpossible. Find out everything
you can about her as soon as you can."
Clive, who used to run Cresta Del Bosque and was well-connected, would hopefully speed up the investigation
and make it easier than involving Martins. After giving his instructions, Lukas scrolled through the messages on
his phone.
In addition to the barrage of calls from Reese and Elias, Lukas found his phone flooded with messages and
missed calls from several senior executives at his company, as well as his family members. They also made
many calls the day after he left.
Lukas decided to start by calling his mother, Yvonne Van Eimeren.
As soon as the call was connected, Yvonne's worried voice cover the phone, "Lukas! You are finally back!"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLukas nodded, "I just got off the plane. Mom, you calledtwo days ago. What's going on?"
Yvonne said in a muffled voice, "It's about the Young family. The day after you left on your business trip the
Young family cto see you. They found out about you getting married and dating their daughter, and they're
not happy about it! They cto our house to demand an explanation! You should have told us, Lukas. And you
went to Las Pinas when Typhoon H was passing through without even telling us! Do you know how worried we
were all the time?"
Lukas' voice remained calm on the phone, "I'm hsafe now, Mom. And what the Young family said is true. |
am married."
Yvonne and Cillian had indeed been expecting this, as the Young family did not
dare to talk about such things in a casual way.
But when he heard those words cout of Lukas' mouth, Yvonne was still in a state of shock.
She opened her mouth and it took her a long tto find her voice, "But why didn't you tell us earlier, Lukas? If
your mother had known that you were getting married, then | wouldn't have set up this blind date for you. The
provincial Young family is not to be trifled with."
