Chapter 13 Agitated Zalia Finished | am waiting on the front porch for Uncle Joseph and Uncle Richard to arrive. |

need to talk to them about Donovan and Gibson, and Slater promisedhe would keep the others occupied

while | talked to them. The moment | see two SUVs approaching. | know that will get my chance to vent my

frustrations and Uncle Joseph and Uncle Richard will giveadvice on how the deal with this. Uncle Richard is

the first one to get out of the SUV and jump into his arms as he takes a step forward. “Alpha. | believe this Little

Spitfire needs stwith her Uncles. Can you handle things inside with Slater?” Uncle Joseph asks and | am

glad their Alpha knowswell enough to understand that something is on my mind. | am still in Uncle Richard's

arms as we walk towards a clearing not far from the Pack-house and I sigh in relief when it turns out to be empty.

| tell Uncle Richard what happened at the meeting and that | get the feeling they blme for Luna Hester

being pissed off with them. | also tell them what | saw when Slater made the announcement. “Little Spitfire, if

you and Twilight saw that, | believe that you did see it. The only thing | can think of as a reason for them to be

angry with Slater, is that they wanted him to bectheir Gamma. However, we all know Alpha Brad and Luna

Hester would never allow them to push you aside without a very solid reason. If that is the reason for them to be

angry at Slater, than can guarantee you that this Pack will be without Gamma in the near future. Your Father

wouldn't allow you to stay here if they want to refuse you your birth right and he will follow you in a heartbeat,

leaving this Pack without a gamma.” Uncle Joseph says. Uncle Richard tellsto keep a close eye on both

Donovan and Gibson, to keep a journal for myself on their behavior, and to stay true to myself if | ever feel | can

them are laughing their asses off and | feel a lot better after having talked to both my Uncles. It helpedand

Twilight to make up our minds. In the first few days after Slater left, | was too busy adjusting to his abscence to

realize that Donovan and Gibson were avoiding me. But once the realization hit me, | took Uncle Richard's advice

and | started to keep a journal. At first it was just writing down how it felt like that they were avoiding me, but

soon | started to write down examples of how | noticed it. In front of others they always made up an excuse to

leave the room when | entered, but if no one was around, they would just walk pastwithout acknowledging

me. Even at training it was obvious tothat they were avoiding me, but no one else seemed to see it though.

Two days before the Full Moon, Alpha Brad got the call we all were waiting for, and thank the Goddess they didn’t

get the females pregnant, but both of them till refused to cto Moon Stone Pack for the Full Moon. | hoped

that it would change things between the three of us, but apparently it only made it worse and | know Dad has

noticed it too, | spend the Full Moon on border patrol. | didn’t feel like celebrating anything and my team had no

trouble with joining me. It was an uneventful night and | went back up to the Gamma floor feeling frustrated and

team and | were on the training grounds when Alpha Brad linkedto get to his office, “Okay, | am needed at

the Pack-house, | will let you know what Alpha Brad has to say later.” | say as | walk away from team mynd head

towards the Pack-house. | hear excited voices coming from the office as | approach. “Zalia, have a seat.” Alpha

Brad says as he is holding an envelope in his hand. “Alpha Chris of Blue Blood Pack is stepping down, and that

means there will be a competition for the title of Royal Pack. All eight Packs surrounding Mystic Moon Pack will be

competing for the title and you will be leaving in tomorrow morning to Blue Blood Pack. There you will hear what

the competition will be and it will be different from any other competition. It never is the stwice, just to

make sure no one can cheat.” Alpha Brad says and | know it means that if we win the competition, our current

leadership will step down to make sure Moon Stone Pack can keep the title for a few decades. The Pack that

holds the title of the Royal Pack are an extension to the King’s Pack, and will have many benefits and obligations

with the Royal family. When the Alpha of the Royal Pack steps down it doesn’t mean his heir takes over that title

as well, every Pack gets the chance to win the title of Royal Pack during a competition. Our Pack. Moon Stone

Pack, could have been the Royal Pack, if Alpha Brad had felt ready to enter the competition back then. But

during the last competition, Alpha Brad hadn't found his Mate yet and his Father didn’t know how long he would

still be running Moon Stone Pack, so they decided not to enter the competition. Neither one of them regretted

the decision, but Alpha Brad knew there might be a chance his Son could enter the competition before he would

take over. Blue Blood Pack is currently the Royal Pack and Alpha Chris is stepping down to look after his Mate

who is fatally ill “Alpha Brad is convinced that with the future leadership of Moon Stone Pack, it will be easier to

win the competition. | am not sure what to do, and Twilight points out to see how Donovan and Gibson would act

when we are at Blue Blood Pack before we make a decision. | think it is the best way to go about it and | ask

Alpha Brad if there were any instructions for us, but other than to go to Blue Blood Pack, there was nothing else

in the note. Alpha Brad tells us to Pack a bag and to take it easy for the rest of the day. | head up to my room-to

pack an overnight bag and after that | go in search of Donovan and Gibson to see if there is something I can help

them with, but neither one of them is in their rooh. | head back to the training grounds and inform my team of

the competition. Kianda is the first one to noticeenter the training grounds and with her attention shifted

towards me. she doesn’t see the punch coming that Nyx throws her way, she s as Nyx connects with her jaw. |

chuckle as | see her glaring at Nyx, but she just shrugs her shoulders at Kianda and askswhat Alpha Brad

wanted to talk about. “Alpha Chris is stepping down.” | say and | have the full attention of my entire team. Hestia

and Gaia walk towards us as | sit down in the grass. We all know what it means when Alpha Chris steps down and

they want to know if | have any other information “You will have to wait until we get back from Blue Blood Pack,

Gaia looks around her to make sure that no one is around, before she asksthe question | already asked

Twilight and | tell her what Twilight and | decided to do. “If their attitude doesn’t change while we are at Blue

Blood Pack, | will decline the position and that means Moon Stone Pack can’t enter the competition.” | say Dad

once toldand Slater about the competitions that were held to get the title of Royal pack and we both had

gone to the library to read as much about it as we could find. We really enjoyed reading the rules of the

competition and | truly believe that Slater and | are the only ones that know all the rules. A Pack’s leadership can

enter, but have to give the title back when they step down. If the future leadership competes and wins the

competition, they have to take over from the current leadership. If a leadership is incomplete they can not

compete for the title, because at the start of the competition there has to be an Alpha, a Beta and a Gamma. If

during the competition, a member of the leadership gets taken out, the remaining members of the leadership

continue, until the entire leadership is taken out of the competition. There is also an extra challenge during the

competition, winning the extra competition might even result in a leadership getting the title even though they

were taken out of the competition completely. That only happened once and was over a hundred years ago.

Onyx Moon Pack was one of the first to get their way taken out of the competition. Each Pack had been dropped

at a location and they had to make back to the Palace on foot without shifting, but one after the other had given

up. The extra challenge that twas finding a certain flower and when no Pack had made it to the finish line,

the Packs were asked about the extra challenge. Onyx Moon Pack was the only one that had paid attention to

their surroundings and the Gamma had picked the flower from the extra challenge, which earned them the title

of Royal Pack. Normally my team would all head hfor dinner, but tonight they joinin the dining room and

instead of sitting down in my usual seat, | walk to a table near my usual table. Dad and Alpha Brad smile as they

see us sitting down and Luna Hester tells the girls teasingly that | am not going away for weeks. “They refuse to

say a word to you, Zalia.” Gaia says in my head. “If they keep this attitude up, everyone will start to notice

something is wrong.”l know she is right, but | doubt it will happen anytsoon and all hell will break lose for

them when Luna Hester puts two and two together. During dinner we talk about what kind of a challenge the

competition will be and everyone has an opinion about it, but Donovan and Gibson keep quiet. Dad glances at
