The people’s words were getting nastler. Selena was about to lose her temper. Before she could explode, Ariana
held her hand and shook her head. Selena had her family to consider the Lovegoods couldn't afford to offend
anyone in this circle.
When Evelyn saw this, she stepped forward and said, “I know you're upset because Brian has put together this
celebration for my birthday, but Tom is innocent. You don have to vent your frustrations on him, Ms. Torrey.”
She picked up a glass of liquor from the table and handed it to Ariana, “It's my birthday today, so how about we
sweep this matter under the rug for my sake?

Ariana accepted the glass. Evelyn was about to get another glass and drink it with her when Brian got up and
moved to stand beside Evelyn.
Everyone watched with bated breath, not sure what he was up to. He took Evelyn's glass and poured the liquor
on the floor before Ariana. This was equivalent to insulting Ariana in front of everyone.
“Brian, don’t be like this...” Evelyn pushed Brian's arm down. It was an intimate action.
Everyone waited to see Ariana make a fool of yourself. Any other woman would burst into tears upon being
humiliated in public like this, let alone Ariana.
Silence descended upon the room, but Ariana broke it with a laugh. She held up the glass and said, “I'll drink
this, but it’s not because of your birthday, Ms. Granger. I'm just here to wish you two all the happiness in the
world. | hope you have a good life and form a happy family together.”
She downed the drink.
Brian's expression turned hideous at her words, and the crowd gasped. They knew how in love Ariana had been
with Brian, so what was wrong with her? Brian would've married Evelyn long ago if he could!
Rumor had it that Brian had actually gotten Evelyn pregnant in the past. However, Belinda had been vehemently
against Brian marrying her, ultimately leading to her getting an abortion.
Ariana’s well wishes sounded like she meant well, but it was clear to everyone that she was rubbing salt into
their wounds. To think she had the nerve to down her drink!
“Let's go, Selena.” Ariana was about to pull Selena out of the room when Tom scrambled to his feet.
He snarled, “Stop right there, Ariana! I'll kill you!”
She stopped and turned to give him a cold look. It made a chill run down his spine, and he froze. She said, “Bring
your men to the Torrey residence if you have the guts. I'm not afraid of your getting revenge on me. In fact, I'd

Then, she pulled Selena out of the room and left without another look back.
Silence descended upon the private room. It was broken by Brian throwing his glass to the floor and shattering it.
They'd gathered to watch Ariana make a fool of herself, but nothing of the sort had happened. Instead, Tom
ended up being humillated, and Brian didn’t get a rise out of Ariana.
No one dared to move when they saw the thunderous look on Brian's face.
“Brian...” It had been a long tsince Evelyn had seen him so furious. She couldn't help feeling a little scared.
“Uh... Let's cut the cake! Let's all wish Ms. Granger a happy birthday!” Isaac hurriedly tried to ease the tension.
