Chapter 142: Chapter 142: The little Wolf
Selene sat in the forest, far away from the noise of the pack. The place was quiet, cool, and calm. She leaned
back against a thick tree, staring at nothing, lost in her own thoughts.
Her mind was heavy. Too many questions, too many worries. After everything that had happened yesterday, she
felt like she would break if she didn’t have a moment for herself. Out here, in the silence of the trees, her heart
slowly began to ease.
Just as she closed her eyes, she heard a sound behind her. A soft rustle, like the wind shifting the leaves. Her
body tensed. She pinched her palm to stay sharp and prepared herself in case someone from the pack had
followed her.
But she didn’t think so, because this place was actually very isolated and hardly anyone would chere, but
she knew the possibility was never slim.
Then, from the distance, a small black wolf stepped out of the shadows.
Selene’s breath caught, but in the next second, her body relaxed. She knew those eyes. Gentle, hopeful, and
shining with happiness when they met her.
"Little wolf... is that you?" She whispered, her voice trembling with surprise.
The wolf tilted his head, as if he understood her, and then padded closer. Selene’s lips curved into a smile.
"You really chere," she said softly, reaching out. The little wolf rubbed his snout against her hand, and she
laughed quietly, stroking his fur. "You silly thing... How did you even find me?"
He pressed closer, tail flicking, almost playful. Selene touched his side carefully, checking him, and found no sign
of the wounds he once carried.
"You're healed," she said with relief, her smile growing wider. "That makesso happy."

leaned into her touch like a spoiled child.
"You're so cute," she whispered. "Do you know that? You're the only one who makesfeel safe..."
Without even realizing, she wrapped her arms around him. He didn’t resist. He pressed himself closer, his fur
warm against her cheek. Selene closed her eyes, breathing in the soft scent of forest and wolf.
The sound of his gentle breathing calmed her. The storm inside her mind slowly faded away, replaced by
warmth. It felt like his very presence was soothing her soul, wiping away all her fears.
She didn’t notice when her body grew heavy. She only knew that she felt safe, held, and comforted. Hugging the
little wolf tighter, she felt like drifting into sleep, the soft rise and fall of his chest rocking her like a lullaby.
But then it seemed peace was never in her life.
Her eyes opened at once. Every nerve in her body tensed. The wolf beside her growled low, a sharp hiss of
warning in his throat.
Selene’s gaze lifted and froze.
The man standing before her was someone she could never forget. The face that had brought misery into her
life. One of the reasons her mother had been destroyed. One of the names she had cursed in silence again and
again.
And now, here he was. In front of her.
Selene’s lips curved into a slow smile. Outwardly, she looked calm, even amused. But inside her, hatred burned
so deep that she wanted nothing more than to tear him apart and bury his body where no one would ever find it.
The man laughed as he stepped closer. His eyes glinted with shameless hunger.
"Well, well," he drawled. "What's a little beauty like you doing alone in the forest? Aren't you afraid sbig bad
wolf might snatch you away?"
Selene said nothing. She only smiled, her eyes cold as ice.
That smile made his heart itch. He couldn't explain why, but it pulled at him, provoked him. His gaze slid over
her body slowly, lingering too long. He licked his lips, almost without noticing.
Then his eyes landed on the black wolf pressed close at her side. Disgust flashed across his face.
"Tch. Playing with this creature?" he sneered. "When you could have real werewolves around you? This thing isn't
even a true beast. Are you that lonely, little beauty? Ctoinstead. I'll show you real heaven."
He spread his arms slightly, smiling as if he were offering her a gift. His voice was smooth but filthy underneath.
Selene tilted her head, her smile deepening, and asked in a voice that stirred him,
"Are you an alpha?"
The man blinked, then burst out laughing. "Of course! | am an Alpha. A powerful one. | can pamper you for life.
I'm not like these other fools. Stay withand you'll never need to think about suffering again."
Selene’s eyes stayed locked on his. Her smile didn’t falter.
"Strange. | have only heard of four alphas in this pack. The four brothers. So who are you? Why have | never
seen you?"
Her question caught him for a second, but then he smirked.
"You have a sharp tongue. | like that. Don’t doubt me. | am an alpha from the Bloodfang Pack."
He lifted his chin proudly. "I am Alpha Navien Drax. You must have heard this nbefore."
Selene’s eyes narrowed slightly. The nstirred something in her memory. She searched her thoughts, and
then, like a spark, the truth struck her. Yes. She had heard it. He was once the Alpha of Bloodfang, years ago. But
not anymore.
Her smile sharpened, but she said nothing yet.
Navien relaxed, mistaking her silence for awe. He stepped closer, his voice dropping lower...
"The current alpha of Bloodfang is my nephew. But me? | have risen higher. | sit now on the council of
werewolves. My future is endless."
He leaned forward, his eyes shining with greed. "So why waste your beauty, little one? Cto me. Don’t think
too much. Women shouldn't worry about anything. They are born to be pampered by alphas like me."
Selene’s gaze was calm, but her smile was... ahh, deadly. But the man was so lost in his fantasy that he didn’t
notice.
Selene looked at him. This was the man. The council member. The snake who had helped ruin her mother. And
now he stood here, daring to offer himself to her...
