Chapter 192
A woman lay on the bed, plastered from head to toe–literally. Her face was so swollen, Thalassa
couldn’t even recognize Isabella. Her mouth puffed up like she’d been stung by a bee, her eyes were
swollen like light bulbs; her whole face looked like an over–inflated
balloon
By just looking, she couldn’t really tell whether she was a guy or a gal.
Only the long hair scattered over her shoulders gave a hint that she might be a dame.
Beside her bed huddled a group of old folks, distant relatives who’d heard that she’d been hospitalized
and came to pay her a visit.
In their village, it’s a tradition that when someone got sick and ended up in the hospital, a group of
friends and family would be organized to come and check on them.
Evelyn was one of those invited, so she came with Thalassa and the kids to visit Isabella.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThalassa walked into the room, gazing curiously at the person on the bed.
If Evelyn hadn’t mentioned that they were visiting Isabella, Thalassa wouldn’t have had the slightest
clue that the woman lying there was her!
She remembered slapping Isabella a few times just two days ago. How on earth did that turn her into
this plastered, swollen mess?
How could her slaps have possibly resulted in this severe aftermath?
“Isabella, we’re here to see you. Oh dear, you poor thing, bone injuries take a long time to heal. You
need to rest up; only after you recover can you get married to your boyfriend,” Evelyn approached, her
words filled with concern.
The relatives quickly chimed in, “Yeah, your boyfriend is so rich and loves you so much. If you become
ugly or lose a hand or a foot, he could be snatched by someone else. So, you’ve got to take good care
of yourself.”
Hearing these “concerned” words, Isabella was so mad she was grinding her teeth!
Were they here to visit her or to kick her when she was down?
Isabella’s mother was also displeased, saying, “Our Isabella and her boyfriend have a very good
relationship. True love isn’t just about appearance. If there’s a solid emotional foundation, her boyfriend
would be even more heartbroken to see her hurt. But we appreciate your concern.”
Those relatives who usually saw Isabella doing so well, now that she was in an unfortunate situation,
spoke with sarcasm and schadenfreude.
Having been rebutted by Isabella’s mother, they felt awkward and made excuses to leave.
Evelyn and Thalassa had just arrived so it’d be awkward to leave with them.
Evelyn sat down by the bed, starting to chat with Isabella’s mother, asking, “Isabella was fine before;
how did she suddenly get injured?”
Isabella’s mother glanced at Isabella, seeing her red and swollen eyes, signaling her not to spill the
beans, as it’d be too embarrassing.
Understanding, Isabella’s mother awkwardly laughed, saying, “Sometimes it’s just like this; when you’re
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmunlucky, anything you do can go wrong. Our Isabella was just walking when she accidentally fell into a
sewage drain, all because those damn thieves stole the manhole
cover.”
“Oh, I see. While theft should be condemned, those who falsely accuse others of being thieves are
even more infuriating. Honestly, karma will always catch up with wrongdoers; that’s just the way life is,”
Evelyn said with a smile.
However, her words were clearly implying something..
Previously in Hollowbrook, Thalassa was taken to the police station and accused of theft. Evelyn went
to confront Greta Sterling, and after some investigation, she realized that the emerald pendant was
actually planted by Isabella, who made Greta pretend to find it and hand it to Thalassa.
In the end, the cops took Thalassa away on charges of stealing the emerald pendant.
Later, Thalassa came back, telling her that the cops found out she was framed..
Evelyn was no fool so she naturally understood that Isabella was the on
