Chapter 138 Worthy
Eileen wasn’t surprised at all that Eric had a new fling. No matter how much he cared for someone, it
wouldn’t change his habit of playing the field.
Eileen added the contact information of the ski instructor, but it was more of a formality. She doubted
she would ever return to this ski resort, as she might truly lack the talent for skiing.
At the peak of the snow mountain, with the temperature below minus ten degrees, Eileen still felt a bit
cold even though she was dressed in thick clothing.
As Eric approached his new girlfriend, Eileen decided to leave. She wore protective goggles and a face
mask, concealing herself completely.
As long as she didn’t speak, Eric wouldn’t recognize her by her voice.
Pretending not to have seen anything was the best approach.
Suddenly, someone shouted, “Make way, make way!”
Eileen lifted her head and saw a person swiftly descending from another slope. Unable to control the
brakes, the person was heading straight for her.
Just in time, another figure dashed forward, intercepted the person, and diverted them aside. Eileen
narrowly avoided a collision.
Wide-eyed, she watched as the person continued to roll down the slope uncontrollably.
Only later did she react. When she saw the person who had rescued her, Eileen calmly said, “Thank
you!”
“Eric!” Lilian immediately walked over, pulling him away. “Darling, why did you risk your life to save her?
Let me check if you’re okay!”
Eric didn’t spare a glance for Lilian as his cold gaze was fixed on the person in front of him. “Is this how
you greet your brother, Eileen? Don’t you recognize me anymore?”
A strange look flashed in his eyes.
It seemed there was no escaping this.
With a faint smile, Eileen replied, “Of course not. I just didn’t want to disturb you, Eric.”
The hostility Lilian originally held toward Eileen disappeared without a trace. Now, she approached with

“Oh, it’s you. Eileen. I’ve heard of you at school. I’m one year older than you. My name is Lilian Singer,
and I’m majoring in performing arts.”
She extended her hand, and Eileen shook it. “Hello, Lilian.”
Lilian suggested, “Since we’ve bumped into each other again, why not join us?”
“Sure thing.”
Today wasn’t even a weekend. It was indeed quite a coincidence!
If she had known Eric was here in advance, she definitely wouldn’t have come.
Being with them would make her a conspicuous third wheel.
There was no need to brave the snow anymore. Thus, the three of them headed to the restaurant
upstairs.
Eileen sat alone, while Lilian casually ordered some dishes. “I’m not sure what you like to eat, so I just
ordered a few things. Your brother and I come here often. See if you like them.”
She handed over the menu she had chosen from. Eileen glanced at it, unsure of what to eat. She didn’t
feel like staying with him here. “I’m fine with anything.”
“Sure. That will be all.” Lilian handed the menu to the waiter. “The desserts here are really good, I’ve
had them several times. Eileen, why did you come alone? Isn’t your boyfriend with you?”
Eileen replied, “I don’t have a boyfriend yet.”
Lilian took a bite of a snack and expressed her surprise. “You’re so beautiful; it’s a shame you don’t
have a boyfriend yet.”
At this moment, Eric interjected with a cold voice, “She’s still in school.”
Lilian realized her mistake. With a smile, she broke the awkwardness, saying, “Of course, when you’re
in school, focus on studying and not on relationships.” Her voice sounded timid. It was clear she was
afraid of Eric, too.
Eileen lowered her gaze to the juice in front of her, stirring it with a straw. “I’ve been suspended from
school, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to relax a bit. I didn’t expect to run into you guys. What a
coincidence Lilian, how long have you been dating Eric?”
With a blissful expression, Lilian came forward and hugged Eric’s arm, leaning affectionately against
him. “It’s been almost a year. Right, Eric?”
Lilian turned to look at him. Eric lifted his cup to drink water, hiding his emotions. When he

down.
No one knew what he was thinking.
Eileen stared at Lilian’s face, feeling something was amiss. Lilian seemed familiar, even to the point
where she thought the person’s eyes and eyebrows resembled her own.
She glanced at the snowy scene outside the window, calming herself down.
It seemed impossible no matter how much she thought about it.
“I just found out for the first time that my brother has been in a relationship for so long. If he doesn’t
reveal anything, how long will he keep it a secret?”
Lilian was a bit shy.
Eric met her gaze, his eyes dark. He curled his lips slightly. “Are you blaming me for not telling you?”
“Of course not. You’re not young anymore. I’m glad that you found someone you love.”
“Is that so?”
“Of course.”
Eileen felt uneasy under his gaze. She picked up her phone, pretending to reply to a message. Just as
the dessert was served, Eileen spoke up. “I’m sorry, but I have some other matters to attend to and
must leave now. Lilian, next time, feel free to visit my home.”
Lilian was ecstatic to hear that. She stood up with a smile. “Are you leaving so soon? Let me see you

Eileen rejected her offer. “There’s no need for that. My friend is already here to pick me up. Eric, have a
great time!”
“Then let me walk you to the elevator.”
“Okay.” Eileen didn’t refuse.
Lilian accompanied her to the elevator, and Eileen politely bid her farewell.
The moment the elevator doors closed, the smile on Eileen’s face quickly faded. She clutched her
rapidly beating heart, and with a sigh of relief, leaned against the elevator wall.
Being in the same space with him was undoubtedly a battlefield, and having a meal together… if she
stayed any longer, she was sure she couldn’t handle it.

Lilian returned and sat down, savoring the delicious dessert that had been served. Then, a thought
seemed to occur to her. She gently placed her spoon down. “Eric, I used to worry that your family
wouldn’t accept me. We’ve been together for so long, so when will you introduce me to them?”
“You? Do you think you’re worthy of that?” A fierce glint flashed in Eric’s eyes, and his tone turned icy
cold. Lilian felt a wave of fear wash over her.
Usually, when they were alone, Eric would gaze at her absentmindedly, often causing her to make
funny faces as if he wanted her to imitate someone. She didn’t dare to ask or say anything more.
He always complimented her on her beautiful eyes.
Most of the time, his face remained expressionless. Occasionally, his gaze would be tender, but she
had never seen him look so terrifying.
Lilian was frightened and couldn’t find the courage to speak. Her face turned pale.
Indeed, she didn’t deserve it. Today, it was because of Eileen’s words that she had entertained
improper thoughts about Eric. She had always believed that Eric truly cared for her.
