MISTAKE 235
Chapter 235: Mrs Green
"What?" she asked and he raised a brow. There is no way he believed that she did not know what he meant?
"It doesn't matter if you do. You are the one who pretended to be my wife first," he said and she lowered her
head.
"I'm sorry for pretending to be your wife," she said.
"Don't getwrong, | don't mean to say that what you did was wrong. | could be said to be quite pleased by it.
You see, your lie yesterday was of great help to me," he said and she wanted to ask how.
"Since | was of great help, could you forgiveand letgo?" she asked and he shook his head.
"It is not that | do not want to let you go, but I can't. | would feel too guilty if | did," he said and she felt like
getting up to scream. You are not guilty enough to let off your savior. He could almost see the admonishment in
her eyes when he said those words.
"When you claimed to be my wife yesterday, someone... sbad people heard you and decided that dealing
with you was a better tactic than attacking me. | think they were just curious how | was suddenly married and
wondered how | managed to hide you," he said and her eyes rounded out.
"Are you saying | am in trouble?!" she asked in panic. What did he mean by dealing with her? She is not one of
them.

"If you had walked in here today and | felt for one moment that you were just trying to exploitfor what ever
reason, if | had felt you really had an ulterior motive, | would have let you go. After all you would have been dead
the moment you walked out of here," he said and she felt a chill run down her spine. She did not know this man
long, but she had the feeling that he was not the kind of person to say useless things. Her instinct told her, if she
had not explained herself well, she would have died the moment she walked out of the hospital.
"The bad people have surrounded the hospital They probably could not follow you yesterday or they could not
confirm that you were telling the truth, so they were waiting till I woke up and you will cto me. By claiming
to be my wife, you redirected my enemies to staring at you for at least one night. So of course | can't be
ungrateful and let you go out there," he said and she was not sure if she should be grateful or not. He had
obviously saved her life, but she was bothered by the fact that she actually placed a target on her back because
of him.
"Who are you?" she finally gained the courage to ask.
"Is this what you are most interested to know?" he asked and she nodded.
"Not who the ones who want to harm you are?"
"No. If there is one, there will probably be two. It will depend on who you are, right?" she asked and he smiled.
"lI am Marcus Green, a small businessman, you?" he asked and she almost cursed out loud. If you are a small
business man, then | am the pope, she thought.
"..." she opened her mouth but wondered if she should be offering her information to him. He could tell what she
was thinking without her needing to utter a word.
"Hazel, Hazel Greyson," she answered and a small smile made it's way onto his his face. He did not like stupid
women. She had weighed her options and cto the right decision. It was best to give him sinformation
than let him go searching. "Then Hazel, you will cvisitafter work, won't you? When do you get off?" he
asked.
"I should be done by five," she said in a small voice.
"Don't be scared. You saved my life. | will not let anything happen to you."
His words were not reassuring. She was in over her head.
"I will get you out of this and off on your way back to your life in no time. It is the least | can do for saving my
life. You will have to stay my wife for a while longer, though," he said and waited for her agreement. She knew he
was waiting for her to agree, but she hesitated. Nothing about this was good, but did she have a choice? He had
already decided. If she refused, won't he just let her go out to her death? She swallowed and gave a small nod.
He proceeded to gesture to his phone on the side table next to her. "Place your contact inside," he said and she
picked up his phone but it was locked.
"The password is 6690. It's my birthday," he said and she froze. He watched her fear rise, noticing the slight
trembling of her hands. She wondered if he was threatening her? What did he mean by this? He was sharing the
password to his phone when he had just said he would return her to a normal life. If he revealed such information
like this regularly, would she dare return to her normal life with what she knew? Was he warning her to not pry?
"There is not need forto know this, right?" she asked.
"How can my wife not know the password to my phone?" he asked, somewhat enjoying teasing her. For a
moment, she saw the amusement in his eyes and knew he was toying with her.
"What do you mean? There are many wives that know the password to their husband's phones," she retorted.
"But we just married, | must show my sincerity," he said and she could not restrain her expression and sent him

"Please, Mr Green..." she began to say.
"Marcus. My wife should at least callby name, right?"
"Will there be need forto pretend in front of people?" she could not help being side tracked to ask.
"It's just a nand you don't want to be caught calling my so respectfully when you said you are my wife,
right?" he asked and she nodded.
"Marcus," she said and his fingers holding the newspaper twitched. He somewhat liked the way his name
sounded when she said it, "I will stay out of your business and respect your privacy. She said and passed the
phone to him, bu the only stared at her hands but did not take it.
"It doesn't matter. It is not a work phone. The password is correct," he insisted and she unlocked the phone after
a moment of hesitation
"Call you number so that you take mine while you are at it. You may never know when you need to contact me,"
he said and she doubted she would need it, but did as told, then she placed the phone back.
"Yam going to have sof men send you back. | will have them pick you up after work. | should have figured
something out by the tyou are back," he said and she nodded and got up. She walked to the door and
opened to find the army of men outside still there. This time, they did not block her path. They were instead
quite respectful. Yet, Hazel was overwhelmed by their presence and tried to calm herself. She waited for the man
inside the room to give instructions.
"Have smen send your Madam to work," he instructed and they obeyed.
"This way Madam," someone stepped forward to lead her out. Hazel threw him a glance behind her before
leaving with six of his men.
