Chapter 994
Lucy had been itching to ask the question, restraining herself until Thalassa was seated at the dinner table. She
couldn’t care less whether Thalassa was going to eat the food or not.
Inviting Thalassa to lunch was just a ruse, a courtesy for Bruce’s sake. If Lucy had it her way, she’d march right
over to Thalassa’s place, grab her by the hair, and demand to know what she was up to with Bruce last night!
Bruce hadn’t come home all evening, leaving Lucy tossing and turning, a sleepless mess.
She’d called him repeatedly in the early hours; he didn’t pick up. Later, when she called again, his phone was

Knowing Bruce’s roving eye, Lucy figured that if he wasn’t home at night, there was always another woman.
She felt like ants on a hot griddle, desperate but helpless.
Finally, daylight came, and so did Bruce.
She cornered him immediately, demanding to know where he’d been the previous night.
Bruce casually mentioned he had something to sort out with Thalassa, stating they had spent the night together.
“Thalassa is my daughter,” he said. “What could we possibly be doing?”
Lucy was skeptical. There was no business between Bruce and Thalassa that would necessitate an overnight stay.
So, she devised a plan, masking it as a meal invitation to accept Thalassa as Bruce’s daughter, with the true intent
of grilling her in front of Bruce about the specifics of their interaction. Lucy’s questioning was urgent, blunt, and
direct.
Bruce paused, his cutlery in hand, and glanced toward Thalassa.
He had briefed her over the phone about the situation and the reason for Lucy’s lunch invitation.
He trusted that she wouldn’t be foolish enough to slip up; if she did, her mother’s video might become a bit less
secure.
Thalassa looked up, startled by Lucy’s interrogation, and caught Bruce’s icy glare, which was laden with silent
threats.
With tension and anger tightening her breath, Thalassa didn’t answer Lucy directly. Instead, she retorted, “Being

Bruce is your husband. Are you genuinely suspecting him of something inappropriate with his own daughter? Is his
character truly worth nothing in your eyes?”
With that, she shot Bruce a look laced with scorn and resentment.
She used her response to imply that Bruce was worthless, a jab at his character.
Bruce read her meaning clearly. At home, Lucy had him under her thumb, leaving him breathless. He recognized
the insult in Thalassa’s words.
