Chapter 680
Thalassa stood with one foot planted firmly on the ground, the other propped against the pole used to control the zip line’s brake. Her one hand was resting on her hip, the other gripping the brake to prevent the zip line from rushing down.
Her stance and words startled Bruce, who was suspended mid-air. He suddenly realized something, but it was too late to do anything about it.
He was perched on a makeshift seat, the size of a typical safety belt. And he was suspended above a vast abyss. His safety belt felt anything but safe. Beneath him lay a sheer drop, and the slope was a steep cliff.
If he cut the rope himself, he would plummet to his death. If Thalassa let go, he would shoot across to the other side of the mountain and crash into sharp rocks, possibly dying on the spot.
Bruce forced a smile, trying to maintain a facade of calm with Thalassa, “Thalassa, I don’t understand what you mean. Can you lower me down slowly and we can talk when I’m on the ground, okay?”
“No talking, huh? Alright, then I’ll let go and let fate decide.” Thalassa’s wrist loosened slightly.

Thalassa gripped the brake again, her expression cold as she stared at Bruce. “I don’t care what you’re using the money for, but you need to transfer it to me right on the spot! Or else, I’ll let go and leave you to your fate!”
Her only reason for inviting Bruce on this trip was to hang him mid-air and make him return the money he had scammed from Evelyn.
She had previously worked as a part-time zip line operator at Phoenix Mountain.
The zip line was designed based on the principle of the lever. A person sat on the makeshift seat, and the other person needed to control the brake to slowly let the rope down. The rope that was pulled back from the other end could maintain balance and allow a slow descent.
Without someone controlling the brake, the person on the zip line would lose control and hurtle towards the other mountain. Thalassa knew the terrain and the danger of the zip line well, which was why she had intentionally brought Bruce here.
The plan was to scare him by leaving him hanging mid-air.
Bruce, a selfish and self-centered man, loved no one more than himself. How could he bear the thought of dying?
“Don’t let go, Thalassa, don’t let go!” Bruce was so scared that he tightly clutched the safety belt strapped to his body. Sweat broke out on his forehead and his back. His legs, hanging mid-air, were shaking.
Bruce, a smooth talker who had deceived countless people, was terrified of death.
Thalassa, the money is with the old woman, not me.” Bruce pleaded with her. “Let me down slowly. Once I’m safe, I’ll call the old woman and ask her to transfer the money to you, okay?”
“Impossible! Either you transfer the money to me now, or you fall from here!” Thalassa was resolute.
She despised Bruce. Not only had he cheated on her mother, Evelyn, ruining her life, but he had also caused the ruin of Lysander’s family.

Such a man deserved hell!
“Thalassa, do you really dare to kill me? If you kill me, you’ll be implicated. Is it worth it to bear the guilt of a life for a few million dollars?” Bruce, scared and panting, tried to keep his sanity and persuade Thalassa.
Thalassa sneered. She knew how persuasive Bruce could be. That mouth of his had deceived countless people.
She was prepared and would not be swayed by his words.
“Who said I killed you? I was just attacked by a mountain monkey and had to let go of the brake. Your death would be an accident caused by a wild animal,” Thalassa said calmly and coldly.
Having spent so much time with Lysander, she had picked up some of his exclusive cold and icy demeanor.
Hearing this, Bruce was so scared that his pupils dilated and his legs shook like a sieve.
