Chapter 1156
“Wait, it’s Leopold’s graveyard?” Thalassa gasped, taking a more scrutinizing look around. She had
attended Leopold’s funeral, but it was during the day.
And she had come uninvited. The Sinclair family had explicitly forbidden her from attending. She had to
take a cab, snuck in through a side entrance and watched from a distance, saying her silent goodbyes
to Leopold.
Her heart was a wreck then, too consumed by grief to take note of her surroundings.
Now, as Debby brought up the fact that they were standing in Leopold’s resting place, Thalassa was
taken aback and began to examine her surroundings with intent.
It was dark with no streetlights for guidance, only the weak glow of their car’s headlights.
As Thalassa scanned the area, a faint sense of familiarity crept in. She had driven here in a panic,
trying to shake off the car that was tailing her, and had ended up in Leopold’s graveyard.

tell where we are just by a few trees?” Thalassa replied to Debby, her voice tinged with frustration.
“Excuses!” Debby retorted, her gaze piercing and intimidating.
The rural road was naturally dark and eerie. As Thalassa met Debby’s grim and fierce stare, she felt a
chill go down her spine.
She took a step back instinctively, eyeing Debby warily.
Debby closed in on her, her expression dark. “He’s been lying here for over a month. Have you even
bothered to visit?”
“I’ll visit him tomorrow. It’s too late now, and it’s pitch-black. What could I possibly see?” Thalassa
defended herself cautiously.
But Debby kept advancing. As Thalassa nervously stepped back, her foot caught on a stone and she
stumbled.
Debby grabbed her arm in an firm grip and dragged her along, “Fear not the ghosts, but the dark? I’ve
got a flashlight. I’ll light your way. Go see for yourself how lonely he’s been lying there!”
Debby’s hold was firm, and she pulled Thalassa with determined steps toward Leopold’s tombstone.
Releasing Thalassa’s arm, Debby fished out a flashlight from her backpack and flicked it on. The beam
hit Leopold’s photo on the tombstone.
The photo was black and white, the light casting a stark contrast on his youthful,

sun-kissed smile.
Such a young face, so vibrant and full of life, now reduced to a picture on a gravestone.
Leopold, once a real and joyful presence in Thalassa’s life, was now just a memory buried under the
earth.

Seeing the picture pierced Thalassa’s heart like a needle, her eyes brimming with tears, her breath
tightening at the sight of Leopold’s grave.
On the day of his burial, she could only watch from afar, unaware of the exact location of his grave or
which photo adorned it.
Now, faced with his image, all the sorrow and pain she had held back flooded her senses,
and tears streamed down her face.
Thalassa covered her mouth, sobbing.
“Are you this upset just by seeing his photo?” Debby said with a mocking tone.
“Do you have any idea how much it hurt when found out he was gone? Do you know what these past
months have been like for me?” Debby’s voice shook as she confronted Thalassa, struggling to keep
her own grief at bay.
“Even if I couldn’t have him before, there was hope as long as he was alive. I could tell myself there
was still a chance. Just sneaking a glance at him satisfied me and made me happy. I waited for him for
seven years, and all I got was him leaving this world forever. Do you understand how much pain that
is?”
