Chapter 1134

Alaric nonchalantly plopped down between them. He scanned Hertha with his

mischievous, almond-shaped eyes, “That’s a line I should be telling you. Still not over me yet?”

Hertha was immediately stirred at his jab; she rolled her eyes, “Oh, please. Don’t flatter yourself. You’re

no Hollywood heartthrob. Do you really think I’d go out of my way to chase you?”

It was absurd that Alaric thought she had come to the bar chasing after him. Sure, there was a time

when she had been somewhat asking about him and scouring her contacts to ‘accidentally’ bump into

him, tailing him like some love-struck fool.

But ever since that fiasco on the golf course, when she accidentally hit him with a ball and he scolded

her with such harsh words, she took a stand. She was done with him, resolved to move on and set her

sights elsewhere.

She had no idea why she could meet him whenever she went. She really didn’t follow his trail for these

times.

“So what you’re saying is you’ve got a crush on some new starlet?” Alaric’s narrow eyes flicked

towards Hertha. The light in his eye went dim, a shift even he didn’t notice.

“Not just any starlet. The new heartthrob Dominic has a look that hit me right in the feels. Every time I

see him, my heart just goes wild, racing like there’s no tomorrow. If I could get a lead on his

whereabouts, I’d spare no expense,” Hertha gushed, her arms hugging herself as she daydreamed

with the giddiness of a smitten girl.

Back when she fell for Alaric, it was love at first sight, and she dove headfirst into a relentless pursuit.

Alaric knew Hertha well; she was a sucker for a handsome face, like his once upon a

time.

Watching Hertha sing praises of another man, Alaric fiddled with his glass, eyes

downcast, chuckling, “Fickle as ever. Fall for every good looker you see. That kind of love at first sight

doesn’t stand the test of time.”

“I’ll fall for whoever I please, thank you very much!” Hertha snapped back, irritated by Alaric’s comment.

She tilted her chin up defiantly, rolling her eyes.

They were all sat at around the table. Thalassa nudged Hertha’s arm gently. As Hertha looked back,

she shot her a look that silently pleaded for her to keep her cool and not to tarnish her own reputation.

What kind of woman openly admitted to falling for every man she met? It was

self-sabotage.

Hertha was actually quite loyal, not the type to flip-flop in love. She didn’t need to things just to spite

fuming.

She had never truly liked any man before. The one she liked just turned out to be a playboy who

treated women like disposable fashion.

It wasn’t just anger at Alaric boiling inside her, but also frustration at herself for falling for such a man.

Wasn’t this just asking for misery?

Alaric, sensing the tension in Hertha’s words, figured she truly had no feelings left for him and moved

on to someone else.

Why else would she be so cold?

Staying any longer would just be self-inflicted embarrassment. With a smile, he raised his glass to

Hertha and Thalassa, “This one’s my apology for the interruption.”

With that said, he downed his drink in one gulp, stood up, and walked away without a backward glance.

Hertha, watching his indifferent departure, pursed her lips in a mix of hurt and anger, grabbed her glass

and drowned whatever was left in it.

“Hey, take it easy. Drowning your sorrows won’t help,” Thalassa cautioned, taking the glass from her

hands and setting it on the table.
