Richard and Lysander were close friends, and just because she hadn't seen Richard in a long while didn't mean Lysander hadn't kept in touch.

During those three years, Richard was also abroad on business, keeping her company. They had only recently returned to their hcountry together.

When did Richard and Charlotte beca thing? There hadn't been any signs.
While Hertha was visibly shocked, Thalassa appeared much more composed.
She had sensed something between Richard and Charlotte especially before from the way Richard treated Charlotte. It was clear he had feelings for her. X
