Chapter 334
Zoe's eves locked onto Elysia’s, hopeful. Phoebe was on the edge of her seat, watching Elysia, waiting for the
fictal word.
Phoebe had figured Elysia would say no to Zoe. But Elysia’s weird reactions threw her off.
Is Elysia actually going to let Zoe stick around? Phoebe couldn’t shake the thought. She couldn't let Elysia stay in
the dark. so she stepped in. “Elysia-"
But Elysia beat her to it. “Alright, you can stay, she said, cutting Phoebe off mid-sentence.
Phoebe’s face went pale. Elysia was keeping Zoe around despite her past actions-she’d tried to prove loyalty by
cutting her own throat but still claimed Ryan as her boss. Phoebe wondered if Elysia was losing her mind and
inviting trouble.
Alyce couldn't shake her worry. Elysia was usually the voice of reason, but now it seemed like she was being
unclear-headed about this. “Ms. Rosewood, are you sure about this?” Alyce pressed.
“Of course,” Elysia replied.
“But Zoe-" Alyce started, trying to make her point.
Elysia cut her off with a shake of her head. “I get what you're saying, but you can’t judge someone just by what
you see on the surface.
Before anyone could respond, Zane spoke up, his deep voice carrying across the room. “Elysia’s always had a
knack for seeing the real deal.”
Phoebe shot Zane a look, her face souring. ‘Shouldn’t he be persuading Elysia, warning her against Zoe? Instead,
he’s making it harder, she thought.
Phoebe turned back to Elysia, their eyes locking. Just as Phoebe opened her mouth to argue, Elysia’s face broke
into a confident smile.

Phoebe froze, her mouth hanging open. Elysia wasn’t the type to let things slide or overlook the obvious. Phoebe
couldn’t help but wonder if she’d missed something crucial.
Elysia glanced at Phoebe’s stunned expression, then turned to Alyce. “Take her to her room, clean her up, and
give her something to eat. She needs to chill out. You got this,” she said, her voice calm.
Alyce still wasn’t sure why Zoe was getting a pass, and it made her uneasy. But it was Elysia’s call, so she just
nodded. “Yes, Ms. Rosewood.”
But in her head, Alyce was already planning to have a serious chat with Elysia later so that Elysia would know
that Zoe staying at Arcanum House was a recipe for disaster.
“Please, Zoe,” Alyce said, her voice serious, but Zoe just stood there, like she was daydreaming.
Ever since Elysia had asked Alyce to make her something to eat, Zoe had gone stiff. She was wondering how
Elysia knew she hadn't eaten yet.
Elysia gave Zoe a knowing grin and glanced at her stomach. Zoe's eyes widened and she clutched her belly,
realizing what had happened. ‘Has my stomach just growled? | really missed that?‘ she thought.
Alyce’s face soured as she watched Zoe, still standing there without a word. Her irritation with Zoe grew. “Zoe,
are you leaving or what?”
Hearing this, Zoe snapped back to reality. She yanked her hand off her stomach and muttered, “Yeah. Let's go.”
With that, she hurried after Alyce.

The courtyard felt emptier with two people gene. These stepped up and linked her arm with Elyda’s her face
etched with worry. Elysia, why’d you let Zoe stick around
As she spoke, she glanced at Zade out of the corner of her eye and frowned, her nine turning sharp. And you
why weren't you trying to stop her? Why did you eke her on instead
Zane's voice was calm but firm. “Why could | try to erop hey?” | made Phoebe’s anxiety spike, but as she took a
breath, she realized there might be something she was missing. She revned to Elysts, eyes full of questions.
“Phorbe, did you hear Zoe say Ryan's like a father to her? Elysts asked
“Yeah, but what's the problem? Phoebe asked.
“Zoe's different. For her, accepting someone as her boss means treating them like family. She won't leave her
dad because she’s loyal and kind-hearted, right?
“If she’d acceptedas her boss, I'd have been nervous to take her in. After all, if she can leave Ryan for me
today, she might leavefor someone else tomorrow. How can | trust someone who switches sides so easily?”
Elysia explained.
Phoebe finally understood. It made sense the way Elysia explained it. She now got why Elysia said one couldn't
judge someone just by appearances.
Phoebe glanced at Zane and felt a bit embarrassed. She'd yelled at him without knowing the full story. But now
she realized he probably had known Elysia’s intention, which was why he was supporting Elysia.
Phoebe dropped her gaze, feeling like she’d missed something huge. ‘Am | just too clueless?‘ she thought to
herself.
“Phoebe, get Zane and the others inside. I'm heading to the pharmacy,” Elysia said.
“The pharmacy? You're not getting medicine for Zoe, are you?” Phoebe asked.
Elysia nodded. “Her cut needs to be taken care of. | don’t want it getting infected.”
Phoebe finally understood Elysia and agreed without hesitation. After tonight, one thing was clear: Elysia always
knew what she was doing. Phoebe just needed to trust her and follow along.

“Alright, got it. You go ahead,” Phoebe said, giving a quick nod. She was good at handling guests, and she'd
make sure everyone was settled.
Elysia smiled a little and turned to Zane and Alice. “Zane, Alice, head inside with Phoebe. I'll be there in a bit.”
“Alright.” Zane nodded.
Before Zane could say more, Alice cut in, her eyes wide and voice almost childish. “Elysia, don’t worry. I'll be
good.” She looked so earnest, and Elysia found her super adorable.
Once Elysia left the room, Phoebe straightened up and gestured toward the door. “This way, please,” she said,
motioning for Zane and Alice to follow her inside.
As soon as Zane stepped into the house, his eyes locked onto two paintings hanging on the wall. He wasn’t an
art expert, but even he could tell these were something special.
The artist's skill was top-notch. Now he understood why his grandpa was so eager to have Elysia as his student.
Zane kept staring at the paintings, feeling like something was off. The more he looked, the more he thought he
saw letters
hidden within the brushstrokes.
Zane leaned in, examining where the mountains met. The brushstrokes were messy-ssoft, ssharp-but
they had a cool rhythm. When he looked closer, he saw they spelled out a name: Ada.

He couldn't help but smile. He'd been in on Elysia’s secret for a while, but he never thought he'd find it hidden in
her art. He checked the other painting, and sure enough, it was the sdeal.
