“Larry only got hurt because he was trying to save me,” Sloane continued, “so | still need to stop by every

couple of days to give him meridian treatments. Can you talk to the head coach forabout the team?”

“Sure. I'll go with you after class,” Lucas said after a brief moment of thought. “Once you're done with the

meridian, I'll take you back to the training center.

Sloane didn’t refuse. She took something out of her bag. “These are the pills that'll be going up for auction next

month.”

Lucas picked up one of the boxes and opened it. Inside was a round, dark brown pill that gave off a strong

medicinal aroma.

“This is a muscle restoration Pill,” Sloane said, lifting one of the boxes. “Regular medicine doesn’t do much for

complex injuries, but if you pair it with this, recovery can be at least three times faster. | found a rare ingredient

for it the last t| visited Septoherb.”

A flicker of excitement flashed through Lucas’ eyes. He gripped the pill box tightly and asked in a low voice,

“Sloane, that rare ingredient you mentioned-can it be cultivated?”

Sloane assumed he was interested in mass production. “Yes, it can. But it needs very specific conditions and an

ideal environment. Even then, the medicinal potency might be a little weaker than the wild version.”

She went on, “Still, if cultivation is successful, it would definitely solve the scarcity problem and allow for large-

scale production.”

Lucas shook his head, his expression serious. “I'm not planning to release these pills to the market.”

“Why not?” Sloane looked puzzled.

Lucas didn’t explain right away. Instead, he said, “I'll buy all of these pills from you. We'll stick to our original

agreement on profit-sharing. | promise you won't lose out.”

Even though she had no idea what Lucas was up to, Sloane agreed. “Alright. We'll do it your way.”

Lucas gathered all the pill boxes. “A friend of mine is in urgent need of this exact formula. If we can cultivate the

ingredient, it'd be a lifeline for them.”

Sloane's eyes shifted as if something had just clicked in her mind, but she didn’t press further.

Smiling, she said, “I've got a unique cultivation method for medicinal herbs. If you need it, I'm sure we can work

out a price.”

Lucas looked at her, pleasantly surprised. “Great. If | do, I'll make sure you're well compensated.”

Sloane stood and picked up her bag. “I trust you on that.”

Lucas stepped out from behind the desk as well. “Heading back to the training center? Let's go together.”

“Sure.”

They walked out of the office side by side. As they passed through the main workspace, they caught the

attention of several employees.

After all, the office group chat was still buzzing about how Lucas had made Westin cry. And now, just moments

later, he was laughing and chatting with the woman next to him, a stark contrast from his earlier fury.

A few gossip-loving employees huddled together, whispering in hushed voices.

A young woman in black-rimmed glasses couldn't hold back. “Who is she? Mr. Hawthorne looked like he was

about to explode just a second ago, and now he’s acting like a completely different person.”

A slightly older colleague next to her pushed up his glasses and squinted at the two of them, then suddenly

widened his eyes. “Isn't that Sloane? Didn't Mr. Hawthorne just call off their engagement? Why are they back

together like nothing happened-and so close, too?”

The moment those words cout, the whole group burst into murmurs.

“No way, that’s really her? She’s stunning.”

Someone else chimed in, voice hushed with intrigue, “Maybe there’s more to the story. Mr. Hawthorne's always

been hard to read.”

Everyone kept talking over one another, all eyes darting between Sloane and Lucas.
