Chapter 128
In the air, there hung a chilling silence.
Eloise just blurted out, "Why do | have to act like a housewife, cooking every day waiting for you to chome?
| can't take it anymore, Harvey."
Harvey's throat bobbed slightly. He had no idea his indulgence was causing Eloise such pain.
He stared intensely at her. After a while, he said softly, "I had no idea you cared so much."
Eloise laughed bitterly at herself. She looked him straight in the eye and said, "Well, | do care, I'm serious. So
what if | just can't play it causal like you do, Harvey?"
Suddenly, she calmed down, her voice filled with fatigue. "Harvey, let's call it quits."
Harvey stared at her. After a while, he said softly, "You want to break ties withjust because of what
happened today? Eloise, do you really think you can call it quits when I do not want to?"
Eloise's eyes turned red. How could she not know?
She knew Harvey too well. He didn't want to get married, he chased after whoever he fancied, and Eloise was
probably the most interesting woman he'd ever met,
so he hadn't gotten sick of her yet.
Awesome! He really pissed her off.
Eloise clenched her fists, struggling to keep her emotions in check, trying to sound indifferent.
"Fine, we won't break ties. Just givea call when you need me. I'll be at your beck and call."
Harvey stared at her face, saying softly, "You mean, whenever | need you, you'll cover to my apartment and
sleep with me? Eloise, are you moving out?"

After saying that, he took a step forward, pushing Eloise against the TV stand. Their intertwined figures
illuminated by the TV screen, looked unusually intimate.
Harvey's patience had run out. He had never gone out of his way to please or accommodate a woman like this.
He grabbed her chin angrily, forcing a kiss on
her.
At that moment, Eloise didn't want this. But she didn't push him away, instead, she passionately embraced his
neck, kissing him fervently. Harvey was quickly aroused by her advances. He stroked Eloise's face, whispering, "I
want to take this to our bed." Eloise mirrored his actions, caressing his face.
She lifted herself up, whispering in his ear, "We're better suited for a hotel, not an apartment. And Harvey, that's
not my home, so stop making things up."
Harvey paused. He propped himself up, looking down at her.
Her skin was delicate, features refined. But she showed no sign of being aroused. The entanglement with him
was just an intentional performance.
His slender fingers gently stroked her eyebrows, which was his favorite place to touch.
Eloise shuddered slightly.
Harvey also got angry; despite his current desires, his male pride wouldn't allow him to continue. He leaned in
and said softly, "Ms. Laurent, you're absolutely right. Although Joan and | broke up, our families’ ties still exist,
and we can never be like you and me. You can move out if you want, but baby, don't regret it."
He said sarcastically, "Will you be upset if | suddenly stop spoiling you?"
When it cto teasing and flirting, women were never a match for men. Eloise's face turned red with anger.
Harvey chuckled. He stood by the foot of the bed, tidying up his belt in front of her, his action filled with mockery.
Eloise knew all too well. This was Harvey. No matter how outstanding he was, how famous, or how brilliant as a
lawyer or financial whiz he was, it couldn't hide the fact that he was still a part of that circle, and men in that
circle were adept at playing and controlling women.
Eloise kicked him in anger.
Harvey caught her easily, closing in on her. "Don't move. Eloise, | really do care about you. You're not the kind of
woman who enjoys playing with people."
Tears welled up in Eloise's eyes.
Harvey brushed against her again, he wanted to continue, but he forced himself to leave. As he left, the door
was slammed shut.
Eloise thought that she might have pissed off this privileged man, but whether he was happy or not had nothing
to do with her. She didn't feel like moving, so she just hugged the blanket and drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, she was holding a pillow. She instinctively called out softly, "Harvey."
Suddenly, she opened her eyes. It was not Harvey. How could it be him? They just had a fight last night.
Rubbing her sore eyes, Eloise was about to wash her face when Vanessa's call cin. "Eloise, there's
something important."
Eloise replied while leaning on the pillow, "Go ahead, Vanessa."
Vanessa's voice was filled with excitement and a bit of hesitation, "Eloise, the
owner of Crescendo Sound Workshop, where we used to work, is planning to immigrate, and he wants to sell the
workshop. | made sinquiries. The price is around 3 million."
Eloise thought for a moment. "Vanessa, you want to buy it?"
Vanessa chuckled, "How could | possibly buy it by myself! | was thinking of discussing it with you. Eloise, this
really is a great opportunity. If we can buy it, we can at least monopolize 30% of the Peterborough market."
She hesitated, then asked, "What do you think, Eloise?"

Eloise thought it was a great opportunity too. Because the operation of Crescendo Sound Workshop was already
mature, and the teachers were industry elites. This was definitely a profitable business, but...
Eloise told the truth. She said softly, "I had a fight with Harvey. | can only cup with 300,000 at most."
Vanessa wasn't surprised. Harvey didn't show up last night; it would be strange if they hadn't fought. And she
had heard that Harvey's ex-girlfriend was back.
Vanessa was very optimistic, and she said, "As long as you're willing, we can finance. | don't mind begging for
money."
Eloise was deeply moved. When Eloise was down in the dumps, she was grateful that Vanessa was there to pull
her out of the mud and keep her from sinking further. She whispered, "Don't worry, Vanessa, I'll figure something
out."
Vanessa said a few more words of encouragement.
Eloise's heart didn't feel so heavy anymore. She got up early, contacted customer service, and had them buy her
a new outfit from the hotel's shop. Then she cleaned herself up. After freshening up, she prepared to head out
and handle sbusiness.
She didn't dare send the 500 thousand she owed Max and Landon through the mail. She decided to deliver the
money personally.
Eloise drove to deliver the check for Landon to his company's reception desk.
Landon was in a meeting. By the the received the check, Eloise had already driven off. He called her to
complain, "Eloise, you're not even givinga chance to take you out for a meal?"
Eloise was always good to him. She replied gently, "Landon, how about next time. You pick a time."
Landon stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows in his 36th-floor office. His slender fingers gently rubbed against
the blinds, his voice a bit hoarse. "Eloise, if you break up with him, would you consider me? | won't let you be
hurt."
Eloise was silent. She guessed that people in their circle probably knew what had happened last night.
Landon said softly, "Eloise, don't feel pressured. | just wanted to let you know how | feel. I'll let you make the
decision."
