Chapter 1754
Fiona could barely keep up with Alec's steady pace.
"Keep your back straight, and stride out," Alec instructed, taking his tas usual.
Fiona shot him a sidelong glare. She managed only a few steps before she was gasping for air.
A group of boys running alongside her shouted, "Con, Fiona! You're almost there!"
"Almost there" still meant there were seven hundred meters left, and Fiona felt utterly defeated. She hated
running-absolutely despised it.
The gym teacher looked on, scratching his head awkwardly. What could he do? Her mom was on the school
board!
Seeing Fiona's pace slow to a crawl, Alec suddenly picked her up and slung her over his shoulder.
"Ah! Alec! Putdown! Putdown!" she shrieked.
Alec, unfazed, carried Fiona effortlessly, covering over a hundred meters in no time.

The girls nearby were stunned. One couldn't help but ask, "Teacher... isn't this cheating?"
The gym teacher quickly averted his gaze, pretending to be busy, muttering to himself, "Her mom's on the
board, her mom's on the board..."
"Ouch!"
After the 800 meters, Alec gently tossed Fiona onto a thick mat.
"You didn't have to do that. The teacher wouldn't have cared," Fiona said, rubbing her sore backside.
Alec chuckled, "Fiona, you're spoiled."
Fiona replied, "My mom said she went through tough times so | wouldn't have to." She stood up, dusting off her
pants:
"Mom always says only parents who can't achieve their own dreams push their kids to suffer, because they've
struggled so much without getting what they wanted. They pin their hopes on us, wanting us to live the life they
couldn't. She also believes that if people were content with less desire and greed, the world would be a much
better place."
"Even with all those wise words, you still won't pass gym class," Alec teased.
"My parents say grades are just a way to measure ability. It's okay to fail; it just means I'm not good at sports. My
mom would never scoldfor failing gym."
Fiona had a laid-back approach to
life, with no materialistic put
she didn't like something, she, wouldn't bother with it. But if she
liked it, she'd dive right in.
To her, if math was boring during English class, she'd read an English book; if art
was fascinating during literature, she'd draw.
If a vase broke, she'd just get a new one. If water spilled, she'd pour another glass.
Nothing was worth stressing over
for Fiona, and she wouldn't waste energy on trivial matters. Letting
things flow naturally kept her happy and free from emotional burdens.
Alec tapped her forehead, "That's because you have amazing parents."
"So I'm lucky!"
Fiona smiled, her eyes shining like crescent moons.
Alec stared at her for a moment, then playfully pinched her cheek, "Are you showing off?"
"Ouch! Ouch! Alec, I'm going to tell my parents you're bullying me!"
"Too late, your parents messagedat noon. Their flight left this morning, and they've left you in my care."
