Eugene hadn't slept well in days. Dark circles ringed his eyes, and his gaze was grim as he stared at his mother.
Mrs. Winters flinched under his intense scrutiny. “Why are you looking atlike that?”
“This was your plan all along, wasn’t it, Mother?” he said with a cold sneer. “Ever since Aries was born, you've favored him. Now
you're just looking for an excuse to give him the entire inheritance.”
His words hit a little too close to home. Mrs. Winters’s eyes darted away. “You and Aries are both my sons. How could | play
favorites? It's you who's insisting on dating a PR girl. You've disappointed me.”
“Then give the inheritance to Aries Winters,” Eugene said, his face a mask of indifference.

Mrs. Winters was so furious her chest heaved. “You think | won't do it?” she hissed at his retreating back. “You marry that cheap
woman, and I'll throw you out of this family! Let's see if she still wants you when you're no longer a Winters heir!”
Eugene's steps faltered for a second, but he didn’t look back. He just walked away faster.
It wasn't just Mrs. Winters. The entire Winters clan was watching Sylvia.

From the moment Gladys discovered the will, both branches of the family, and even Eugene's grandfather, had been digging into
Sylvia's background. They all shared amon goal: under no circumstances could the family matriarch’s dowry fall into her

Gladys found an opportunity to pull her son, Aries, aside. “You see that woman over there?” she whispered, pointing at Sylvia.
Aries nodded. “Yeah. What about her?”
“She's a gold digger, trying to get her hands on your family’s money,” Gladys said, her voice dripping with venom. “Your mother is
furious. | want you to go over there, yell at her, and kick her out of this funeral.”
Aries, a surly middle schooler, glared at Sylvia. “She looks like trouble,” he snorted.
“Exactly. So don’t be nice to her,” Gladys urged, a vicious glint in her eye
