Chapter 385 He's My Friend

Charlotte saw Julius off at the entrance of the club. As he got into the car, she softly said, “Messagewhen
you get home.”
Julius nodded, and the car door closed with a soft click.
Charlotte turned back into the club and ran into Sebastian just as she was walking inside.
She had tried calling him earlier but couldn't get through, so seeing him now made her feel a bit uneasy.
“Sebastian.”
He looked up and smiled, noticing her expression. “Hey, you look a little off. Not feeling well?”
Charlotte's gaze flickered, her thoughts swirling. She felt like there was a weight in her chest, a heaviness she
couldn't shake off.
She didn’t know if Sebastian was aware of what Joanna had done in the past, and she had no idea when exactly
they had
met.
Sebastian noticed her hesitation and stepped a little closer. “Lottie, what's going on?”

Charlotte took a deep breath and asked, “Didn't bring your

Sebastian smiled casually, “She’s back home. Once she’s done with sthings, she'll be back.”
“I see.” Charlotte lowered her gaze for a moment. “When she’s back, you should bring her by to meet me. I'm
your sister, after all. You can’t just keep your relationship a secret from me.”
“What are you talking about?” Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head. He reached out as if to mess up her hair,
but when he saw the careful style she'd put together, he thought better of it.
“Once she’s back, I'll make sure to introduce you properly.”
“Okay,” Charlotte said, forcing a smile. She turned and walked inside, trying to push away the knot in her
stomach.
Sebastian watched her go, then called out, “Lottie, if you're feeling off, you should rest. The auction doesn’t start
for a while.”
She nodded without saying much, heading toward the restroom.
As she walked down the hallway, she spotted Arthur standing a few feet away, on the phone.
He had his back to her, one hand in his pocket, standing tall with a casual confidence. His deep voice, smooth
and commanding, drifted toward her.
She froze for a moment, watching him before quickly stepping

into a restroom.
The light was on, and the room was empty.

She sat on the couch, her mind racing with thoughts she didn’t want to deal with.
She hated how easily her thoughts spiraled, but she couldn't stop wondering if Sebastian knew what had
happened five years
ago.
If he did, she wasn’t sure how she could face the brother she had always trusted especially after realizing he had
used her.
And then there was the deal she'd made with Arthur, all for Sebastian.
A headache began to form as Charlotte tried to shake off the thoughts.

She told herself she was probably overthinking things. Surely, the situation wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
Sebastian had always been kind and protective of her. He gave her everything good, always shielded her, and
never once hurt her.
She forced a faint smile, reflecting on how everything happening lately had made her far more suspicious than
usual.
She rubbed her temples, but before she could clear her head, the door opened, and Arthur stepped in.

She glanced up and said, “Are you planning to rest here?”

She started to get up, but Arthur grabbed her wrist and gently pushed her back down onto the sofa.
Charlotte felt a brief sting on her wrist, her fingers instinctively curling.
“What's going on?” She pulled her hand free.
Arthur's gaze was intense as he spoke, his voice low, “Charlotte,
| told you before to be cautious around Pete. Do you still remember that?”
Charlotte frowned. “He’s my friend, and he’s never done anything to hurt me.”
She couldn’t understand why he was so insistent about being wary of Pete.
