He cut her off again. "And what if | spend it all and still don't remember anything? What if no one ever comes for

and we'll pay him a wage. As for where he'll stay..."
She thought for a moment before continuing, "We can rent him a small apartment
in your building for now."
The stucould technically house someone, but it was too risky letting a complete stranger sleep there. If

Stella considered the plan and realized it was probably the best solution for now.
She nodded and turned to the man.
"Would that work for you?"
If he refused, she decided, she'd let him fend for himself.

Stella asked one last question. "Would you rather spend the night in the hospital or leave now?"
If he wanted to stay, she'd have to ask Abby to help her keep an eye on him— after all, it wouldn't be proper for
her to be alone with a strange man.
"I don't like hospitals," he said. "I'm uncomfortable here. I'd rather leave."
It was already late, and renting a place at this hour wasn't really possible. Stella hesitated, wondering what to do
next, when Neville spoke up.
