Chapter 100 Stomach Pain
Isolde curtsied and then sat back down.
She knew that Prudence’s methods were far from simple, so she was always prepared.

If she couldn't defuse the first two points, she would end up with a bad reputation, unable to survive in
Argentum, and would have to pack up and return to Windermount.
But if she could handle it, she would definitely have a backup plan. Otherwise, with such a grand banquet, it
would be a loss for her.
The pastries were served in turns, many of which were exquisite delicacies from Caelmont.
But after eating so many pastries, it becquite tiring, especially with the hot weather. There was little desire
for sweet food.
Fortunately, Priscilla had prepared in advance and sent a few servants to bring out the coconut water she had
brought from Caelmont.
Coconuts were rare in Argentum, and even when available, they were old coconuts that had no water, only flesh.
It was only the young coconuts that contained juice.
Noelle and Britney from the Pearl Tower also cup with the coconut water, placing the bowls in front of Isolde
and the princess.
This was a rare treat, so even Rosemary couldn't resist having a bowl.
“It’s so refreshing and delicious,” she said.
Priscilla smiled and said, “Indeed! We poured the coconut water into a clay jar and sealed it, letting it soak in the
well water from the Pearl Tower. When it was brought up, it was perfectly chilled and tasty.”
Margaret also drank some, a faint smile appearing on her face. “Caelmont has so many delicious foods and
fruits. No wonder Mrs. Blackwell is so reluctant to return to the capital.”
Prudence smiled and said, “No matter how good Caelmont is, it can’t compare to the comfort of home.”
Isolde listened carefully when she heard that the coconut water had been soaked in the well of the Pearl Tower.
She made a mental note of it, as this was something she hadn't known.
She took a closer look at her bowl and the princess’s bowl, both of which had a faint, dark red mark on the edge.
It wasn’t immediately obvious, but it was distinguishable.
None of the other bowls had this mark.
Excusing herself, she pulled Noelle aside and asked, “Was the coconut water soaked in the well of the Pearl
Tower?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNoelle nodded and replied, “Yes. This morning, just after you left, Mrs. Blackwell had the servants lower the clay
jar into the well in our courtyard. Then, just now, Mrs. Langley had the jar brought up from the Pearl Tower and
asked Britney andto deliver it. She said that since Britney and | have just entered the household and aren't
familiar with the rules, she was worried we might make a mistake with the guests, so she instructed us to only
serve it to you and the princess.”

Isolde shook her head. “It’s nothing. Just stay here and wait for now. If anything happens later, just letknow.”
Noelle hesitated, feeling uneasy but refrained from asking further due to the many people around.
Isolde sat back down, almost certain that something had been added to the other guests’ bowls.
Meanwhile, hers and the princess's bowls should be free of any such substance.
The substance was sent from The Pearl Tower, and if something had been added, her suspicion would be the
greatest.
She had somewhat misjudged Prudence, thinking she would never resort to such methods.
Suddenly, Rosemary spoke up, “By the way, not long ago, Queen Mother developed a tonic to strengthen the
body and gavea bottle. Since all the ladies are here, why don’t we try the Queen Mother's medicine?”
As she spoke, Rosemary instructed Princess Bourbon, Estelle, to distribute the medicine.
Hearing that it was a tonic created by the Queen Mother, even if it turned out to be ineffective, everyone felt
extremely honored and eagerly anticipated trying it.
Estelle handed out the pills one by one to each of the ladies.
The pills were red, coated in a glossy layer, and they shimmered. Upon closer inspection, there was a faint sweet
and fragrant scent.
“You don’t need to take it with water. Just place it in your mouth and chew,” said Rosemary, as she herself took a
pill.
Prudence received the medicine with a smile and said, “I never expected to have such an honor, all thanks to
your kindness.”
Everyone else took the medicine, following Rosemary's lead, chewing it for a few moments.
“It's sweet, with a slight bitterness, but there's no medicinal taste. A fine product indeed!” Rebecca remarked
with a smile.
Rosemary smiled slightly, replying, “The Queen Mother mentioned that snow lotus was included, though I can’t
say for certain if that’s true. Snow lotus has detoxifying properties. I've tried it before, and it caused mild
diarrhea and stomach pains. However, the Queen Mother explained that these are just the body's toxins being
expelled. Afterward, if you take the honey pills she prepared, they will help replenish energy, regulate the blood,
and strengthen the foundation. When you return home, | will have someone deliver the honey pills to each of
your households.”
Everyone expressed their gratitude, their faces filled with delight.
However, Prudence and Priscilla exchanged glances, their eyes flickering with subtle change.
After a moment, Prudence felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She called for Priscilla to help her to the restroom,
but Priscilla experienced stomach pain too, sitting on a stone bench and clutching her belly.
Isolde stood up and gently took Prudence’s arm. “Grandma, lethelp you.”
Several other ladies also stood up, eager to head to the restroom, all of them delighting in the belief that they
had successfully expelled toxins from their bodies.

The restroom at the Duke's estate beccrowded in an instant.

Isolde helped Prudence along, but as they left the courtyard, Prudence, who hadn't drunk much coconut water,
felt the pain lessened and abruptly pulled away from Isolde’s support, her expression growing cold.
Isolde smiled. “Grandma, what a clever move!”
“Speak plainly if you have something to say,” Prudence responded icily,
“Grandma, your efforts to clear up the rumors with food and even host a banquet for my sake are amazing. | will
always remember your kindness,” Isolde said with a sweet smile, but her eyes held an icy, crackling hatred.
Prudence slowly straightened up and looked at her, saying nothing, but the hatred and disgust in her eyes were
unmasked.
Isolde spoke each word with deliberate emphasis: “I will collect what you oweand my mom with interest.”
With that, Isolde took a step back, her smile remained as her lips curled up. “Since you're headed to the
restroom, | shall not accompany you.”
She turned and walked away.
In the pavilion, only Rosemary and Aveline remained.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Mrs. Backwell dares to poison?” Aveline was wise enough to see through the situation.
Rosemary replied calmly, “She didn’t poison anyone.”
Aveline was stunned for a moment. “She didn’t poison?”
Isolde smiled faintly, “Can poisoning be hidden from those ladies and you? She wouldn't do that.”
Aveline looked at Rosemary and said, “I thought you distributed the pills to dismantle Isolde.”
Isolde explained, “After eating so many sweets and snacks, then drinking the cooling and strong mountain tea,
followed by the icy coconut water, whose stomach can handle it? Stomach pain is certain. But everyone there
doesn’t understand the properties of medicine. Once everyone starts having stomach pains, Grandma will
naturally get suspicious and have someone investigate. Of course, they will find nothing, except that the coconut
water cfrom the Pearl Tower. My and Princess Aveline’s bowls are marked, and everyone will ass| tried
to disrupt Grandma's banquet, deliberately embarrassing her, and thus, they will think | poisoned the coconut
water.”
Rosemary glanced at her faintly, “You have a clear mind.”
Isolde had initially thought it was poison, but then she realized that Prudence wouldn't be so foolish. If an
investigation were carried out, the Duke's estate would surely be implicated.
But what kind of poison only caused stomach pain and diarrhea? It was probably something like croton seed, a
strong laxative. She recalled that when she was at the estate, she had once eaten sweets and then drank well
water, which also caused stomach pain and diarrhea.
That meant even the croton seed wasn’t necessary.
