Chapter 129
“Yes.” Larissa forced a smile on her face, her voice sounding more airy than before. “I was born and
raised in Bartham. Later I got into a university in Covenford, and after graduating. I found a decent job,
so I settled down here.”
She skimmed over the past casually, as if those were nothing more than fleeting memories, including
her memories with him,
Kevan instantly felt downcast.
“Have you not been in contact with your family all these years? Your sister cald she has been looking
for you.” he asked.
Larissa pursed her lips, took a moment to think, and then shook her head.
“Why?” Kevan tell his heart tighten suddenly. Although he somewhat knew the reasons, he still wanted

a moment of silence, each lost in their own thoughts, creating a strange sense of understanding
between them.
They remained silent until they left the hotel. As the cold wind blew, Larissa shivered, finally fully
awake.
She suddenly recalled and asked. “Weren’t you on a business trip to Bartham? How come you’re
back?”
She didn’t believe his excuse earlier about it being for her, and it couldn’t possibly be for this birthday
banquet–neither Lucas nor Lana had that much influence.
Kevan glanced at her the light in his eyes dimmed down until it was completely extinguished.
“I came back to take care of some matters,” he finally answered reluctantly.
It was just as Larissa had expected. While she breathed a sigh of relief, she couldn’t help but feel a
slight tinge of disappointment.
Kevan offered to drop Larissa off on his way home. He was still driving the same Maserati as before
while his newly bought Rolls–Royce remained parked below their house, not having moved from its
spot even once.
Larissa always felt guilt–ridden whenever she passed by, especially tonight. Kevan parked the car next
to the Rolls–Royce, and she made an effort to avert her gaze when she got out of the car.
“You don’t have to feel uncomfortable,” Kevan leaned against the car root, his expression indifferent as
he looked at her. “Ive already given that car to Dylan.”
“I won’t force you to accept gifts you don’t want in the future,” he said, leaving unsaid that it also
encompassed his feelings for her,
The next day, while inspecting one of the quest rooms, Larissa happened to run into Lana.
Lana immediately grabbed Larissa’s arm and hugged it tightly, calling out, “Larissa!”

All she wanted to was keep her distance from her.
Lana rested her chin on her shoulder and batted her eyelashes, asking. “Are you free? Can you bring
me around Bartham?”
This was undeniably a big inconvenience. Larissa didn’t want to establish any relationship with Lana. It
would be best if she and the Seymour family never came in contact again.
So she passed the task to Lucas without any hesitation.
“Why don’t you ask Lucas to take you out? I’m quite busy with work, rotating between day and night
shills. Sometimes, I don’t even get a day off for a whole week. And even if I have a day oft, I just want
to lie down and sleep at home. I don’t feel like going anywhere.”
“Ah?” Lana’s face fell with disappointment.
