Chapter 987
Margaret was downstairs eating snacks and could roughly guess Heather had rejected her son again
when she saw him dejectedly coming down. She glanced upstairs and said softly, "Is Heather staying
over there?"
"Yeah."
"So, she isn’t staying in the same room as you?"
"Yeah.Huh?"
Ralph looked up in surprise. He frowned and looked at Margaret, "Mom, how can you make fun of me
too?!"
"Silly boy, I’m not making fun of you.I'm helping you find a way to get closer to her."

She slowly took a bite of the peach cakes before unhurriedly replying, "You said before that you have
managed to capture Ms.Riggs’s heart.I honestly thought you were competent.
"You have been to many romantic and debauchery places and have been in a relationship with many
women before. How come you can’t even handle what you're best at? Look at yourself.Even if you
obtained the Russell family in the future, can you manage it well?"
Margaret sighed. She could not help feeling a little helpless at her son's uselessness. He was the son
she loved the most. She was in her late 40s when she was pregnant with him.
At that time, she hesitated, but she still gave birth to him.
Hugo had raised their eldest son elsewhere from a young age, so Margaret barely saw him and was
not very close to him.
The son and daughter in the middle were either playboys, rebellious or disobedient.
Still, Ralph managed to give her the satisfaction of being a mother. She put all her love and attention on
her youngest son.She initially thought he would inherit the Russell family's assets when he grew up.
However, Hugo was very partial to their eldest son.
He insisted on passing it on to Alexander even when their eldest son had died.
Margaret thought it was ridiculous to entrust the Russell family to Alexander when they had a son.
She argued with her husband several times but dared not go overboard since he was the head of the
family.
Moreover, Margaret still had a secret book with her.
It comforted and made her feel that her several decades of life when her husband was not in vain.
"Mom, you don’t believe in me anymore either, do you? I wouldn’t have gotten forced into the point
where I need a marriage and a woman’s support if it wasn’t for my father’s partiality."
Ralph was highly frustrated as he sat next to his mother and complained.
Margaret’s heart softened when she heard him complaining. She always felt sorry for him.
"Alright, your father may be partial to him, but it’s not like he didn't leave you anything.Did you carefully
put away the thing I gave you before? Have you looked into it?"

had left me a treasure.A map is better than that useless thing!"
Back then, Margaret had mysteriously handed the book to Ralph.
He thought it was a treasure and initially tried various ways to decrypt it, including soaking it in water
and heating it with fire but to no avail. He had given up after all these years as he could not find
anything special about it.He concluded that his father must have fooled him, so Ralph threw the book
aside. He did not know where it was, much less look into it.
"Your father regarded that book as a treasure before he was alive. If I hadn't secretly taken it away while
he was muddle-headed, I wouldn't have had the chance to touch it.You don’t understand it because
you have yet to decrypt it.However, I’m sure there is a big secret within."
"It's a great treasure again, isn't it? I'm tired of hearing it, Mom.I have a great treasure in front of me
now. It’s more important to keep that safe."
Ralph grabbed a handful of nuts and looked at them.
"Mom, you are a woman too. What does it mean when a woman treats you well one time but terribly the
next?" He asked with doubt.
