The woman finally revealed a satisfied smile at the sight of the big and small bags piling up in the room. Joseph leaned
forward, hugged her from behind, and left a peck on her cheek. “Are you happy now?”
“Hmph! ” The woman rolled her eyes. “It only managed to calm me down.”
“Oh dear, the one million dollars I used should be enough to do just that. I apologize, but you must know I’m using Ari’s
card. I hope you can see my sincerity.” Joseph rushed over to coax his sweetheart and finally saw a smile on her face
after spending over a million dollars.
“Sincerity? I’ve been with you for over twenty years. I’m already going easy on you by quickly forgiving
you! ” Elizabeth pursed her lips and poked her finger at his head. “Do you think spending a million
dollars on me is enough?

She started to cry when she said those last few words. Then she continued whining, “Do you even
know how much time I spent choosing a dress because I want to be a little prettier? It’s because I want
you to feel proud when I attend the auction with you instead
of feeling embarrassed by me. I did all this for you!”
Elizabeth paused for a while and continued again, “Since our son is working in the company, I can’t
possibly embarrass the two of you when I go out. Can I? Look at what’s happening now. Someone
froze all of my cards, and I felt so ashamed! Do you know how the salespeople looked at me at the
time?”
She became angrier by the minute, thinking of her earlier embarrassment. Joseph also noticed that and
quickly hugged Elizabeth tightly, ignoring her struggles. “Okay, I know you’re upset. Don’t cry, all right?
I’ve bought everything for you now, haven't I? I know you felt wronged in the years we were together,
but everything is going in a better direction now, isn’t it?”
“Better direction? Are you sure?” Elizabeth pursed her lips and stopped struggling. Leaning on his
chest, she whined, “I know what you’re thinking. You’re just going to coax me first before you go home
and spend time with that wife of yours. You’re only lying to me all this while. Would you dare to file for a
divorce with her? You wouldn’t!”
“Divorce...” Joseph was stunned. “We’ve been married for many years, and Eloise has contributed
much to the family. Also, she still holds shares in the Tanner Corporation. I need to gather as many of
her shares as I can before Damian secures his place in the company. We can’t make any mistakes on
this.”
Elizabeth stopped her whining after hearing about her son. “Can Damian take over the company? Is

Although Joseph had promised her countless times, she still felt restless, afraid that something might go wrong even
though Damian was their only son. She would feel uneasy if they could not set things in stone yet.
“Of course! Our son is the best! Damian is working on a huge project and is almost finished with it. After that, he’ll have
a place in the company, and soon, all we need to do is bring him higher up the ladder.”
Elizabeth was full of hope upon hearing that, and her mood improved as well. “When that becomes a reality, my hard
work over all these years will pay off.”
“It will pay off!” Joseph kissed her cheek and grinned. “Just tell me if you like anything at the auction in a few days. I’ll
buy them for you as an early birthday present. Your birthday is coming up soon, isn’t it? I’ll buy whatever you like for
you.”
“Really?” That made Elizabeth feel elated as she circled her arms around Joseph’s neck. “You can’t go back on your
words! ”
