Chapter 1488
Lily returned home safely and felt the house was empty. She had sent Galen to Dominic’s place, and
Alexander was not around. Daisy had been released, leaving only her and a few maids in the large,
quiet house.
She turned on the computer to read the news. The pandemic in Burnwken has not only not been
contained but has also gotten worse. There were cases in border areas of Hyderland and some other
countries, while the virus seemed to have spread from Burnwken, which was widely condemned by
other nations.
Lily, on the other hand, had a feeling there was more to it than meets the eye, and she suspected it had

Having decided to make a trip, she looked down and caressed her tummy, wishing her children could
be strong and stick it out with her.
The night fell.
Lily wrapped layers of waistbands around her waist to keep her stomach in place. Although her belly
was only slightly bulging and had not made it hard for her to move around, it somehow got in the way.
She knew if Alexander was around, he would surely stop her and chide her for doing so, but since he
was not here, she could only do everything herself as she had no choice.
She put on black attire, including a mask and a hat. Avoiding the maids, she got into her car and drove
away, heading straight toward the research institute. She planned to sneak into the building.
Having worked there for quite a while, she was familiar with its structure and layout. Furthermore, most
people would have left at night. Although there were people on the night shift, there were not as many
as during the day.
Besides, those who had to conduct experiments would have to turn on the light, so Lily knew which
areas to stay away from. Even if she were to be discovered, she was able to handle five or six security
guards without a problem.
She parked her car a bit away from the research institute and got out.
Putting on a fanny pack around her waist, she stole near the boundary wall.
She knew that it was a CCTV blind spot. She wanted to tell Thompson to do something about it but
decided against it after realizing that there was something wrong with the research institute. The matter

Now, the spot was the perfect place for her to sneak in instead. Just as she prepared to leap onto the
top of the wall, someone grabbed her elbow.
Lily spontaneously held the person's hand and threw the person over her shoulder.
"Ugh!" Caught off guard, the person grunted, not expecting that her reaction would be so swift.
As he was rather tall, he did not land on his back, but his hurt buttocks still made him groan despite
himself.
It was only then that Lily saw his face. "It's you?"
At the basement, Austin was in a daze and could not tell how many days had passed. He used to mark
the wall with his knife to count the days, but later on, he could no longer tell how long he had slept or if
it was day or night.
