Chapter 1431

It would be fine if Lily did not know it before, but now that she knew things were not as simple as they

seemed, she felt uneasy letting Daisy accompany her son like this.

"Daisy." Lily stood at the door with her arms crossed as she looked at Daisy and asked, "How long has

it been since you’ve worked at our house?"

"About four months," Daisy replied after some thought.

"Hmm, after so long, you have yet to take leave to visit your family. Don't you miss them?" Lily's

question sounded natural as if she was discussing familial matters with Daisy.

"I don’t have any family members, Madam. You must've forgotten. I'm the only one left," Daisy shook

her head and answered. She showed no sadness or joy when she talked about this. She was not lying

either.

When she applied for the job, Lily did a background check on her. Both of Daisy’s parents were dead,

and she had no siblings. Daisy was married once, but her husband passed away as well. The child she

gave birth to died at a young age. At that time, Lily pitied her. Alongside Daisy’s experience in childcare

and her good ratings, Lily thought she would be the perfect candidate.

It turned out that she was not as simple as Lily thought she was.

"Oh, right. I'm so sorry about that!" Lily palmed her forehead lightly before asking again, "Then, don't

you have any friends? Don't you want to spend time with them? What about this? I'll give you a few

days off to rest properly."

Daisy raised her eyes to look at Lily calmly. "Madam, are you firing me?"

"Firing you?" Lily was astounded and quickly waved around. "No, that's not what I meant. I just thought

that you've worked hard to care for Galen throughout this time and that you deserve a good break."

Although she was suspicious of Daisy, Lily had never considered dismissing her. Still, Lily did not know

Daisy's purpose for working here. After staying with the family for nearly four months, Daisy would

inevitably know quite a bit about the family's affairs. Firing her would be risky.

Instead, Lily planned to keep Daisy by her side to discover her intentions.

However, Lily could not just sweep things under the rug and continue to put her son in possible danger.

Therefore, she decided to let Daisy take a few days off so she would not startle the snake.

"I don't have any friends, and I don't need to rest. I must take care of the little boy and feel very happy

doing it. I'm also very well paid and taken care of here. I will continue to work hard!" Daisy exclaimed

sincerely without hesitation.

At this point, Lily had run out of ideas to get Daisy off the job for a few days. After thinking about it, Lily

said, "All right then. You can continue working if you don't want to rest. However, if you ever feel tired or

the job is getting too heavy, just tell me, and I'll let you take a break."

"Thank you, Madam." With that, Daisy turned around to enter the room.

Lily watched her departing back and panicked before hurriedly calling out," Daisy!"

Daisy stopped in her steps and turned around to look at Lily suspiciously." You can sleep in the guest

room from today onward. I'll sleep with Galen tonight."

"Huh?"

"I think a child needs his mother's company from time to time. I'm very thankful you can take care of

him during the day. I want to spend more time with him at night, especially when his father isn't home."

Lily peeked in and saw her son sleeping soundly on the bed. Although this was just an excuse she

made up on the spot, there was some truth behind it.

She genuinely wanted to spend more time with Galen. After all, he was still so young.

"Madam, you're pregnant. You shouldn't be doing anything too straining." Daisy looked at Lily's belly,

which was protruding a little more each day.
