Chapter 1053
Ralph got up and said confidently, "I think you won't be able to find a better candidate than me."
He was not utterly confident, but he knew Heather could not find a better candidate for the task than
him. Ralph also knew she would not have made such an offer if she had options. He now felt that 30%
of the shares was insufficient.
'If Heather can make such an offer just like that, it means the secret handbook is worth much more.
However, there’s no hurry in making a counteroffer. Once I get my hands on it, I'll be in a good position
to negotiate the price. I'll get even with her for the injuries and humiliation she has given me today!'
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtRalph turned to leave but remembered something and looked over his shoulder at Heather. He looked
her up and down and fixed his gaze on her cup-holding hand.
Made uneasy by his stare, Heather grew slightly upset. "What is it now?"
"Where's the ring I gave you?” Although it was not that expensive, he made an effort to choose which
one to buy. Seeing that she was not wearing the ring, he could not help but think she was tough to
predict.
"Oh." Heather glanced at her finger and thought about the ring she had squeezed into a lump-the one
Hannah had treasured so dearly. She said indifferently, "It was too low-priced for me, and I dropped it
accidentally. Why? You're not so petty, aren't you? Or do you want me to compensate you?"
Ralph gnashed his teeth and balled his hands into fists. He said gravely," There’s no need! Indeed it did
not cost me much, and if you've thrown it away, so be it. At least we've leveled with each other.”
He turned and walked off.
Heather did not care for what he said and rubbed her finger. She should feel more relaxed now that
they had discussed the matter openly, but for some unknown reason, she was still unhappy.
'It must be that wretched girl! Yes, it's her. She decided without my permission, and it affected my
mood!' With that thought in mind, she got up and walked toward the basement.
She stopped before the door and reached out to turn the door handle. It was unlocked, as Hannah
would not dare to leave the room once Heather had given her the order. She could not believe such an

Heather stepped into the room. Some light that came through the window lit the room, but since the
window was small, the light only shone dimly.
She sneezed due to the basement's musty smell. She opened her eyes and was stunned as she could
not see anyone in the room.
'This is impossible!'
She turned her gaze and saw someone cowering in the dark corner with her arms wrapped around her
knees. Heather would not have noticed someone sitting there if she had not paid more attention.
Hannah fixed her lifeless gaze on the floor, looking like a soulless puppet.
Heather grew upset when she saw Hannah like this.
