Xavier lowered his gaze and discovered a pair of unfamiliar hands that belonged to a woman.
Since they did not belong to Winnie, he turned around, gripped the woman’s neck, and pinned her
against the bathroom wall without hesitation.
He was stunned when he saw her face. She looked like Winnie.
“Who are you? How did you get in?” Xavier growled.
The woman was dark-haired, fair-skinned, and dressed in revealing clothes. Upon taking a closer look,
Xavier found her eyes a little glassy as if she was in a daze.
Instead of answering his question, she wrapped her slender arms around his waist again.
“Help me. Please… It’s so hot… I feel horrible…” she pleaded, her innocent and glassy eyes filled with
desire.
Xavier was utterly disgusted by the woman’s touch. He shoved her hands away roughly.
This time, she did not touch him. Instead, she began removing her pathetically thin sleeveless silk
dress.
At the same time, she twisted her body in front of Xavier. “Please… I’m begging you… I feel so
horrible… I’ll do anything for you. All I ask is for you to hug me. Hug me and love me…”
Xavier had never felt more disgusted as he stared at the woman who was begging him shamelessly.
She even had a face that looked extremely similar to Winnie’s. How dare she do such a thing? This is
an insult to Dumbo!
“Disgusting!” Unwilling to take another glance at her, Xavier turned her around swiftly to make her face
the wall and placed her arms above her head.
“Ow! It hurts! Let me go! Let me go now… Ah…” the woman implored.
She did her best to cry out in an alluring manner, for she knew how seductive her voice sounded to
men.
However, that did not apply to Xavier.
While restraining her, he swiftly tied her hands with a towel and tossed another on top of her head to
cover her face.
Xavier looked much better when he did not have to see her face.
Leaning against the sink, he took a dry towel and dried his hair, which was still dripping wet. At the
same time, he interrogated, “Answer me. Who are you and why are you here?”
“I don’t know. I was drugged.” The woman on the floor squirmed about while speaking seductively. “I
think I live around here, or perhaps I took the wrong way and accidentally came in. I didn’t do it on
purpose. Please… I feel absolutely terrible now. Who I am is not important. What’s more important now
is that I need a man, and you’re the only person who can help me now. I’m begging you. Just take it as
if you’re doing a good deed. You won’t lose anything if you have sex with me. Besides, I won’t ask you
for anything. All I need is a night with you. Just one night. I promise I’ll leave once I feel better. I won’t
pester you. Please!”
Xavier could not help but snort when he heard her words. “Drugged? How are you drugged when you
can speak so clearly and coherently? Do you really think all men will act on their impulses when they
see you looking weak and helpless? I hate people like you who use means like this, especially when
you look like that.”
Whenever he thought about how similar she and Winnie looked, displeasure rose in his heart.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSuddenly, he stopped toweling his hair and threw it at her head. “Tell me! What’s your motive for
coming here and putting on this act?”
The woman received no orders telling her to stop carrying out the mission, so she lied, “I don’t have
any motive. What motive could I possibly have anyway? I was really drugged. Please… Help me… I
feel awful…”
Xavier narrowed his eyes at her. “You’re one stubborn person, aren’t you? Fine. Let me rephrase my
question. Tell me. Was it Wilhelm Speiser who sent you?” He knew something was off from the very
beginning.
There was a brief pause, but the woman still uttered the same words, “I don’t know who you’re talking
about. Help me. Just take a look at me, please. I’m sure you’ll change your mind if you do. Is it because
you’re afraid?”
Xavier found her words amusing. “Hah! Trying to goad me, eh? You know exactly why your employer
sent you. I’m sorry to break this to you, but I won’t be seduced by you just because you look like that.
Tell you what, if I was not bound by the law and morality, I would’ve taken down this face of yours.
Sure, I can save you, but I’m not obliged to do so. I can call the police for you instead.”
With that, he left the bathroom.
At the same time, in a house on the other side of the street, was Winnie, who was fuming with rage.
Through the surveillance footage, Xavier could be seen walking out of the bathroom and looking for a
phone to make a police report.
Things had progressed to such a point, yet Wilhelm remained motionless. Winnie could not help but
frown as she stared at him.
“Are you done? He passed your test. Give me my phone this instant. Are you really going to let him
make a police report? I don’t want to make such a big fuss out of this.”
Wilhelm still found Xavier an eyesore, but the truth was clearly laid out before him.
Expressionlessly, Wilhelm returned the phone to her. “Not bad. According to Grandma’s orders, you
can bring him back to the manor to meet her and Grandpa tomorrow.”
Winnie took the phone, giving him a brief glance. “Great. Finally, it’s over.”
With that, she dialed Xavier’s number.
The moment the call was connected, she said, “Xavier, it’s me. Don’t call the police.”
Xavier was not surprised to receive a call from Winnie at that moment.
He fell silent for a few seconds and asked, “Where are you now?”
Feeling extremely guilty over everything that had happened that day, Winnie hurriedly replied, “I’ll go
over to you now.”
“Okay. I’ll be waiting for you.” Xavier hung up as soon as he finished because he heard a rather loud
noise in the bathroom. I should check it out.
Winnie put away her phone and was about to leave when Wilhelm called out to her.
His brows were tightly knitted as he stared intently at her. “I just want you to be happy, and I hope you
understand my intentions. Even if we made a mistake today, the Speiser family will always be your
support.”
The anger Winnie felt for Wilhelm made her forget to say goodbye to him when she was about to leave.
However, deep down, she knew where he was coming from. In fact, he had done a great job from his
stance.
He was a relative who grew up with her, after all. Even if they got into a fight, she could never bring
herself to blame or give him the cold shoulder.
“Wilhelm, my love for you has never changed.” Looking at his eyes that were filled with stubbornness
and gentleness at the same time, she could not help but step forward and hug him.
When Wilhelm heard those words, he finally relaxed his deeply creased brows.
He raised his hand and gently patted her back. “Grandma and I love you too. Now run along. Go to
where you should be.”
Winnie bobbed her head in response and marched out.
It was raining cats and dogs outside as though someone had applied a grey filter to the night sky.
Winnie was in such a hurry that she ignored her surroundings.
By the time she arrived at the door and was about to unlock it, she noticed a shivering person standing
beside her.
Startled, she reached out and grabbed the person by the shoulder.
The person wailed in agony, “It’s me, Nate! I’m an ally!”
Sure enough, the voice belonged to Nate. However, it was also that he was Nate that Winnie did not
release him right away.
She asked coldly, “Haven’t you left already? Why are you still lurking outside?”
Nate explained, “I wasn’t lurking. I was already standing out here, but you didn’t notice me. Can you let
me go first? It hurts.”
Winnie’s eyes narrowed, and she loosened her grip. “I don’t know why you came here, but I don’t have
the energy to talk to you now. Stay here. Don’t go anywhere.”
“Here?” Nate massaged his aching shoulder. “I’m drenched. Can’t you let me in to warm myself up?”
Winnie eyed him and scoffed, “Let you warm yourself up? Do you think I’m a saint who returns a
grudge with a favor? Stay here and endure the cold!”
With that, Winnie went on to unlock the door.
Gazing at her side profile, Nate said, “I’ll do whatever you want. I’m sure you can see I’m not here to
cause trouble this time. I’m really here to apologize.”
Because of the rainwater on her finger, the fingerprint recognition failed to identify her fingerprint. She
proceeded to key in the passcode, ignoring Nate the entire time.
Just as what Nate had said, he had sincerely come over to apologize to her. It did not matter if she
ignored him, for he would find a way to touch her heart.
Just then, the door in front of them was suddenly swung open from the inside, and a disheveled woman
walked out, meeting Winnie’s eyes.
Upon meeting Winnie’s scrutinizing gaze, the woman immediately retreated timidly.
Unfortunately, Winnie had no intentions of stepping aside from the door. The woman had no choice but
to make her way around the former and scurry out of the house.
Before she could take a few more steps, Winnie said icily, “Don’t do this kind of thing in the future.”
The woman paused. “But I need money.”
Winnie frowned at her response. “You’re able-bodied. There’s nothing you can’t do.”
The woman shook her head and smiled bitterly. “Ms. Speiser, we’re of different worlds. You’ll never
understand what it’s like for me. Don’t worry. I promise I’ll never appear in front of you and your man
again.”
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” Winnie uttered briefly, not wanting to waste her breath on the
woman.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNate was rendered speechless.
His eyes widened in shock as they darted between Winnie and the woman under the rain.
“You two look… alike. Why did she come out of here looking like that?”
Nate was perplexed. Based on what Xavier had told him, that place was Winnie’s residence.
Why is there another woman living here? And why are her clothes in such a mess? Xavier should be
the only person in there now. What’s going on? Nate could not help but frown at that thought.
“Put away those nonsensical thoughts of yours. It’s not what you think.” Right then, Xavier walked out
of the house.
His half naked body left Nate looking even more confused.
Yet, no one paid attention to him.
Pinning his eyes on Winnie, Xavier stretched out his hands and asked, “Do you need me to explain this
to you?”
“Perhaps I should be the one asking you this.” Winnie took his hands and held it tightly. After a moment
of silence, she added, “Welcome to my territory.”
Xavier’s eyes were ablaze. When he heard those words, he could not help but let out a sigh. “Winnie, I
finally got to see you.”
He reached out and pulled the woman he loved into his embrace in an urgent yet gentle manner.
Following that, Winnie shut the door, allowing themselves to hug each other tightly.
Xavier lowered his head to peck her on the lips. Even so, he was already satisfied by hugging her.
As he brushed her hair gently, a frown marred his forehead. “You’re wet. You should take a bath.”
“What about you? You’re wet too.” Winnie slipped her hands under his shirt, placing them on his waist.
Her tiny gesture made him lower his voice. “Let’s bathe together.”
Winnie lifted her head and pinched his chin. “Good idea. I should clean you up properly. Where did that
woman touch you just now? Hmm? Here? Or here?”
Placing his chin on her head, he murmured hoarsely, “Neither. I pushed her away in less than a
second. I’m still yours—completely yours.”
“Good to know.”
After taking a bath, both of them lay on the large, soft bed.
They had explained many things to each other in the bathroom, and Xavier had found out that all the
happenings that day were all a test Wilhelm had for him.
Winnie had thought he would get mad at her. To her surprise, he thought it was a great idea.
He said, “If I have a daughter in the future, I’ll give my future son-in-law a tougher test than Wilhelm’s.”
After considering it from another angle, Winnie realized his words made sense.
“But there’s one thing I don’t understand. Did you guys delete all your information on the Chanaean
network? Why the sudden decision?” asked Xavier.
Winnie explained, “It’s for my safety. You know I’ve offended someone in Jipsdale. I doubt they’ll let me
off so easily.”
“True. Even if they didn’t delete your information, I would’ve done the same. Harold might be in
Chanaea now. He wants to get revenge on you,” said Xavier, hugging her tightly.
“Really? Where did you get this information from? Is it reliable?” Winnie frowned.
“It’s from Nate. He should be telling the truth this time.”
Winnie narrowed her eyes. “Nate, huh? I almost forgot about him if you didn’t bring up his name. He’s
still outside. I think it’s time I meet him.”
