Chapter 1273 Nicole’s Death
Roxanna bit down hard on her lips as her tears began flowing freely. She gazed at the crimson stains on her palms,
her heart heavy with helplessness, as she squatted on the cold floor.
Sob—Sob—Sob
Muffled sobs emanated from the surgery room, a testament to the heart-wrenching scene.
Meanwhile, Chloe's demeanor remained composed. She carefully set the surgical instruments on the adjacent
table, her movements fluid and controlled. Her gaze lingered on the figure lying on the operating table. With a
determined blink, her bloodshot eyes revealed the depth of her pain. "Nicole Anderson. Time of death: 3.03.28AM,
on 20th March 2022, due to failure of all medical rescue procedures." She gnashed her teeth, attempting to stave
off her own tears as she enunciated each word with heavy grief.
"No!" Roxanna suddenly raised her head, a piercing scream escaping her lips as if she could reach the heavens with

day? "It's all my fault. If I had visited her sooner, I might have caught something amiss. Then, she might have
recovered just from taking your tonic, right?" She darted around the surgical table like a madwoman and seized
Chloe's arms, shaking her repeatedly.
Seemingly clouded with mist, Chloe's eyes, swollen and red, finally succumbed to the torrent of emotion. The ache
in her heart grew unbearable, and her tears flowed freely. The reality before them was stark, and she had no
choice but to accept it. Then, she struggled to regain her composure and spoke with deliberate care through her
sobs. "Roxanna, we must let Nicole rest in peace."
However, Roxanna continued to shake her head, her words trapped in her throat.
"Let's freeze Nicole's body to preserve it so that Mr. Lloyd can take a look once he arrives. Then, we'll come up with
a plan of action." Chloe took a deep breath, and once she finished speaking, she turned the air conditioning to full
blast before leaving. This surgery room had been custom-built for Nicole—it would become her final resting place.
Amidst the overwhelming sorrow, Roxanna clung to sanity, her anguish transforming into a seething hatred. She
had suspected Evelyn's involvement in the voodoo bug from the beginning; now, she was driven by an
unquenchable thirst for vengeance. Then, she left the operating theater with a final, sorrowful glance at the lifeless
figure on the table.
Meanwhile, Evelyn remained oblivious to Nicole's passing. Awakening in the villa, she went about her day, providing
early education to the child growing within her.
"Miss Wrenn, your lunch has been delivered. Please place it in the kitchen after you finish, and someone will come
to retrieve it."
As Evelyn, her head bowed while she caressed her belly, listened to the servant's voice, her smile soured, and she
responded calmly, "Okay."
The servant's outward respect toward her masked an underlying rudeness that became apparent upon closer
scrutiny. While they ensured she received three meals daily and met her basic needs, their concern didn't extend

To put it bluntly, Evelyn was akin to a bird in a cage, although that analogy felt almost unrealistic. Nevertheless, she
scoffed at this notion, as at least a caged bird would receive some interaction, yet no one in her current
surroundings seemed willing to exchange a single word with her.
"I'm here to see Colton Gardner's wife, Evelyn Wrenn," a woman shouted from the doorway. The voice was loud, yet
a hint of hoarseness lingered within it.
"I'm sorry. Mr. Gardner doesn't have a wife, but Miss Wrenn is inside. Please come with me," the servant responded
promptly.
After hearing this, Evelyn was momentarily taken aback, then offered a self-mocking smile as she realized even the
servants would clarify her status to guests on Colton's behalf.
"Evelyn Wrenn, come out here. I don't want to step foot inside this disgusting place!" As she regained her senses,
she was met with the brusque demand of the person outside.
Evelyn's temper had waned when confronting Colton, but it didn't mean she would tolerate being bossed around by
anyone. Clenching her fist around her belly, she moved toward the door as swiftly as she could manage without
assistance.
