Chapter 48

She shook her head mockingly and opened her suitcase, putting her clothes in the closet.

In the other suitcase were a computer and two monitors, which Estelle placed in the study next to her

bedroom.

The house was big enough, and the layout was great. Each room had a study and there was also a

storage

room.

After organizing everything and taking a shower, Estelle lay in bed, feeling the loneliness and fear of

living alone in a big house, but soon fell asleep.

At 8 PM, Wilma called Jonathan to tell him that ma’am had moved out. After reporting it, she asked if

she should return to the old house or continue staying in the villa.

Jonathan received a call from Millard at noon, saying that the paperwork was done. Ms. Macclain

moved out just after the divorce. She seemed to know when to leave.

“Just stay there.” Jonathan said.

There weren’t many people at the old house now, so they didn’t need so many workers.

Wilma agreed.

The next day, Estelle indeed slept until 8:15. Looking at the beautiful sunshine outside, she stretched

lazily and felt refreshed.

Her schedule had freed up a lot now that she had no more commute time. In the afternoon, she went to

the supermarket to buy various condiments for cooking, vegetables, fruits, and she planned to cook

dinner herself that evening.

Indeed, she couldn’t possibly forget her beloved ice cream, cakes, and snacks.

The fridge, which originally had only a few bottles of water, was now stuffed with food.

Opening her phone and finding some recipes, she chose something simple: a salad and a baked

potato.

It took her an hour and a half to make these dishes. In the end, she sat at the dining table, frowning at

the food. She couldn’t believe how strange the salad tasted and the other dish, a black and burnt mess,

didn’t look like a potato at all.

Seeing these dishes, she finally understood Magdalen’s worries.

On Friday night, Magdalen took her out for dinner. Knowing that Jonathan hadn’t visited all week, she

asked curiously, “What’s going on?”

Estelle took a sip of lemon water and didn’t find it strange. He had said that he rarely came to this

house.

“But, is he not satisfied with you?” Magdalen couldn’t help but ask.

“Ahem!” Estelle choked on her drink, coughing repeatedly as she hurriedly wiped her mouth with a

tissue. Her face flushed with embarrassment, and she directed a sharp gaze towards Magdalen.

Magdalen squinted playfully, a smile playing on her lips. “I was only joking. My dear Ella looks adorable

and attractive. How could anyone not be satisfied?”

After catching her breath, Estelle calmly said, “Not every man is as animalistic as Morrison!”

Magdalen herself used the word ‘animalistic’ to describe her Morrison.

Magdalen chuckled with a meaningful undertone. “You still haven’t grasped the ways of men!” she

remarked.

Estelle didn’t argue but still believed that not all men were obsessed with that kind of thing.

On Saturday morning, she went to the Lamont family’s house as usual. When she entered, Jonathan

was just

coming downstairs.

“Hello, Mr. Lamont!” Estelle greeted him with her customary politeness.

Jonathan cast a brief glance in her direction, offering a slight nod, before proceeding towards the living

room.

Their interaction seemed unchanged, giving no indication of any notable shift in their relationship.

Estelle paused for a moment, then walked upstairs with no change in her expression.

Two classes passed quickly. When she came downstairs, Jonathan was playing with Milo in the living

room.

Seeing Estelle come down, Jonathan patted Milo on the back, and Milo went out to the garden through
