Yesterday, Lukas spent an evening with Elias over drinks. He firmly believed that a true gentleman should never
engage in disputes with women. This time, he decided to take the proactive step of going back home, providing
Reese an honorable exit from the situation.
Martins, upon witnessing Lukas's decision, finally exhaled a sigh of relief. "What type of flowers do you think we
should buy, Mr. Strakovski? Roses, perhaps?"
Having a vague idea about the ongoing situation between Reese and his superior, Martins speculated that Lukas
was gearing up to extend an apology to Miss Roberts.
As expected, Lukas affirmed Martins' hunch, albeit with a slight shake of his head regarding the flower choice.
"Let's opt for lilies; their symbolism should suffice," Lukas suggested.
Lukas had always harbored a belief that roses were overly conspicuous when it cto conveying sentiments of
affection.
Accepting the suggestion, Martins concurred, "Very well, I'll take care of it promptly."
While en route to the office's exit, Martins encountered his typically chilly and composed Mr Strakovski once
more, who interjected, "Oh, one more thing!"

Pausing in his tracks, Martins pivoted back with a quizzical expression. "Mr. Strakovski, is there an additional task
you requireto address?"
Lukas posed a somewhat awkward question, "Do | cacross as oily in these clothes? Does the overall look...
cacross as appealing?"
Martins shuddered at this question. When did the Mr. Strakovski lose all his confidence?
Gathering his thoughts, Martins responded earnestly, "Absolutely not, Mr. Strakovski. Truth be told, you appear
remarkably dashing in this ensemble!"
However, Lukas seemed to brush aside the compliment and cleared his throat, delving into an inquiry that
evidently weighed on his mind. "Well... does it not appear overly off-putting, though?"
Martins was stunned, and at that moment, he thought he was hallucinating!
He looked at Lukas with a puzzled face: "Mr Strakovski, what are you talking about?" "
Lukas, his handscountenance contorted in a subtle display of irritation. He waved his hand dismissively,
"Never mind, just leave."
He is still very bothered by what Reese said, that he disgusts her!
But...where did he exactly disgust her?
Lukas furrowed his brows deeply, took out a cigarette, and just as he was about to light it, he suddenly
remembered that he had to go hthat night and stuffed the cigarette back into the pack.
The hospital, Reese's ward.
Reese was talking to Mariel when the door to the ward opened.
Luther had bought dinner and smiled at the two of them in the ward, "Let's eat dinner! I've bought sfood."
As Mariel was about to pick up a box of food, she saw the deep affection in Luther's eyes as he gazed at Reese.
That gaze, it was so tender.
She couldn't help but tremble and spoke tactfully, "I'll go out and chat with a nurse!"
As soon as Mariel left, Luther sat down by Reese's bed, "Lia, | was really scared today!"
No one knew how close he was to breaking down when he saw that car rushing towards Reese.
This was the fourth tReese had seen Luther since he returned to the country. For the first tat the airport,
she saw him and was so flustered that she instinctively avoided him.

The second time, at an alumni gathering, she was nervous, but did not try to avoid him.
By the third encounter, she had finally let go of Luther and felt a calm within her that was undeniable.
Now, at their fourth meeting, she looked at Luther full of gratitude. For if it weren't for Luther calling out to her
just in the nick of time, who knows, she could have been hit by that car!
Reese looked calmly at Luther and said, "Luther, thank you for saving my life today!"
However, Luther furrowed his brow and replied, "Lia, you know that | didn't save you to garner your thanks. | was
just scared, that's all."
Reese smiled and replied, "Regardless of your intentions, | have to thank you. You saved me, that is a fact!"
With a sigh of resignation, Luther changed the subject: "Lia, he isn't treating you well, is he?"
Reese furrowed her brow and asked, "Who?"
Luther's expression was filled with sadness and frustration as he replied, "Of course | mean your current
boyfriend. The doctor says you've been having trouble sleeping and that you seem exhausted. Isn't it because of
him? Even today, when you were standing on the side of the road staring off into space, wasn't that because of
him? He nearly killed you, don't you realize that? You must leave him!
