Chapter 281
"Happy birthday, Nikola," congratulated Kathy as she sat next to her older cousin, who smiled back.
"Thanks, Kath. You're growing into a fine young woman yourself!"
Kathy's smile widened in response, and she looked toward the young girl next to Nikola. "Who's this
gorgeous, Nik?"
Tori was talking to Patricia about nails when she heard Kathy's question, and she glanced toward the
young woman.
"My girlfriend, Tori." Nikola beckoned Tori over, and she returned to him.
It was only then that Patricia finally glanced at Isaac, only to find Adeline sitting next to a grim Isaac.
At that, she returned to her seat next to him and very naturally leaned in his arms as she took a plain
gander at Adeline, who turned somewhat grim after finally realizing the bombshell was her half-sister.
"Tricia, you're here too," greeted Adeline awkwardly after pursuing her lips.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Mhm." Patricia smiled perfunctorily.
Meanwhile, a grim Isaac brightened up, and one could even find a hint of a smile if they looked close
enough.
"Well, someone finally remembers I'm still here." He gazed deeply at her as he squeezed her shoulder
gently. However, it only made Patricia glare at him with a pout, evidently upset.
Knowing she was jealous, he lowered his head and gave her a peck on the cheek. Patricia blushed in
response and gave him a shove, surprised that he would kiss her in front of so many people.
Anyhow, her bashfulness brightened his mood further.
Adeline, on the other hand, was utterly dumbfounded. The animosity beneath her eyes surged, but she
couldn't let any of it show. She clamped her hands together, trying her best to keep her grace.
Patricia took a plain gander at her half-sister and knew the young woman was trying her best not to
explode. However, she was already at the tipping point.
Meanwhile, everyone was stunned by Isaac's move, for they all knew him, especially how aloof this
man could get.
To think there'd be a day the head of the top prominent family would coddle a woman. How could other
women be envious?!
At that, Kathy looked toward Adeline. "Addy, isn't Isaac your boyfriend?"
Then, she shifted her gaze to Isaac only to find him still coaxing the young woman in his arms,
disregarding whatever she said entirely.
Adeline felt mortified, and her countenance turned grimmer by the second as she pursed her lips,
unsure of how to answer.
Just then, Isaac spoke up. "That's all history. Our relationship had long ended."
With that, he held Patricia's hand and caressed the back of it.
His relationship with Adeline was nothing but a contractual one. With the money given, the relationship
could be considered over. So, he decided to terminate the contract in advance and stay by Patricia
resolutely.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhether his grandfather would agree to it or not, he had already figured out a way to counter it. He
decided not to make it public for now or perhaps keep it from the elder until the latter got better. Either
way, he wanted to try.
Adeline's animosity deepened after she heard Isaac's words.
Is he not going to consider renewing the contract at all?! She initially still had hopes for it, but now it
seemed that all her chances were gone.
Though she was looking horrible by the second, she refused to let her emotions collapse, still keeping
her composure.
Patricia, on the other hand, smiled, feeling elated deep within. She had wondered how Adeline would
react if she found out the half-sister she loathed so much ended up dating Isaac. And she had to say,
the young woman's face was beyond entertaining.
At the thought of what Adeline and Gwen had done back then that nearly caused her to lose her
babies, she vowed she would pay it all back; let them taste their own medicine.
Meanwhile, surprise flashed across Kathy's eyes after she heard Isaac's words, for the only reason she
was even friends with Adeline was that she was Isaac's girlfriend.
This was the harsh reality of their social circle. They only accepted Adeline as one of them because
she was Isaac's girlfriend. But it seemed that they had all been duped.
