Chapter 234 Do You Still Love Me?
Aylin paused in her steps.
Suddenly, she remembered the day of their divorce. That morning, she was holding a cake, pleading
with Gavyn to stay and have a meal together.
Did they bring up these things just to embarrass her?
“What’s the point of bringing up those boring old tales?” Unbearable memories flooded Aylin’s mind,
causing her to purse her lips and her face to turn quite pale.
Gavyn made a joke.
“It’s only been a month!”
After a pause, he asked, “Why didn’t you tell me about your memory loss that day?”
Aylin raised her eyebrows, glanced at him, and said, “Do I really need a reason? We’re getting divorced
anyway.”
“At that time, we hadn’t gotten divorced yet.”
Gavyn felt suffocated by her indifferent and ruthless attitude, and with a frown, two words burst from his
thin lips. “Liar.”
She was dumbfounded.
This person is being unreasonable!
Aylin felt stifled, maintaining a facade of indifference and distance on the surface, but inside she was
filled with resentment.
Could it be that she didn’t step aside according to Gavyn’s wishes?
He really felt wronged!
“What did I deceive you about?”
“You’ve been hiding everything from me all along, whether it’s your amnesia, your identity as the
daughter of the Koch family, or even your culinary skills and hacking expertise! Is there anything you
haven’t kept from me?”
Aylin was momentarily taken aback, but she quickly recovered.
Waylon, the traitor!
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe had clearly promised her that he would keep his lips sealed!
He really is looking out for his good friend!
Gavyn’s tongue flicked against his cheek, slowly closing in on Aylin. This time, he didn’t restrain her,
but the overwhelming pressure enveloped her.
“Tell me, why have you been hiding this from me and deceiving me all along?”
Aylin took a sharp breath, then gave him a cold glare.
Under the moonlit night, her eyes were crystal clear, even more serene than the cold moonlight itself.
“Why should I tell you?”
Aylin looked at him with a hint of mockery in her eyes, “In our three years of marriage, you’ve only ever
had eyes for Laila. Have you ever cared about my birthday or our anniversary even a little bit?
You’ve never fulfilled even half of your responsibilities as a husband. Whether I need you or not, you’re
never by my side, and even when you are, you’re just cold and indifferent. How low do you think I am to
still share everything with you after being hurt by you over and over again?”
The memories of those three years of marriage were like festering wounds, causing pain whenever
they were recalled, and at this moment, Aylin was no exception.
The pain turned into anger, and her voice unconsciously grew louder.
“Gavyn, you’re a man after all, don’t do things that make people look down on you for being indecisive!
If you love Laila, why not be wholeheartedly devoted to her? What’s the point of coming to bother me?
At least I once chose you, don’t make me look down on you!”
Gavyn listened to Aylin’s tearful words, knowing that her past three years in the Delacruz family had not
been easy. Hearing her pain made him feel uneasy as well.
To be fair, he indeed had not fulfilled his responsibilities as a husband.
But as for Laila, he had something to say.
“Laila and I are not what you think. I only see her as my lifesaver, nothing more.”
Upon hearing this, Aylin was taken aback.
She murmured, “You said Laila saved you, how did she save you-”
In the midst of conversation,
Aylin snapped back to reality and waved her hand dismissively, “You don’t have to answer, I was just
asking casually. I’m not really interested in hearing it.”
It was as if a key had been turned, a flash of insight connecting numerous clues, and suddenly, many
things became clear and understandable.
So what? Does that give Gavyn an excuse to be a jerk?
Ten years ago, she had saved him in a place engulfed in raging flames. Carrying him on her back, she
had escaped death one step at a time.
What did he say back then, about repaying her kindness?
Ah…
In the end, they simply woke up, dusted themselves off, and left without a care. They didn’t even bother
to pretend to search for something, just filled with empty words.
Now, Laila is being rewarded in every possible way.
Willing to give oneself wholeheartedly, even if the woman betrays, still reluctant to let go.
Now, using the favor of saving her life as an explanation, he tells her why he has been neglecting her.
How ridiculous!
Aylin’s heart turned cold, and she let out a mocking laugh, “I never thought you would have double
standards in the way you treat people and handle things.”
Gavyn was somewhat puzzled by these cryptic words.
“What?”
“It’s nothing, I just thought of a term called double standards.”
Gavyn looked at her with a furrowed brow, puzzled by her sudden sarcasm, but he knew he still had to
say what needed to be said.
“Over the past three years, I’ve had quite a few misunderstandings about you. I’m sorry. As a husband,
I’ve indeed failed in some aspects. In fact, you could have told me the truth back then.”
“What’s the point in telling you?”
Aylin chuckled, looking into his indifferent and distant peach blossom eyes, “If I tell you, will you believe
me? Or will it make you stay away from Laila?
Gavyn, I don’t need your pity and guilt. I can’t play the role of a pitiful victim, and I don’t need your
sympathy.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe knows that men fall for this kind of thing.
But she, the prideful daughter of the Koch family, disdained to do such things!
Aylin pursed her lips, a hint of hidden stubbornness appearing on her face, but it vanished as quickly as
it came, barely noticeable. After casting a brief, indifferent glance at him, she coldly withdrew her gaze.
Gavyn frowned slightly.
Suddenly, my heart ached.
He clenched his fist beside him and said, “I’m sorry, I let you down in the past.
I can…”
“I don’t need any compensation,” Aylin said calmly. “Mr. Delacruz, let’s not be melodramatic about
making amends now that we’ve divorced. I’m not interested.”
Aylin’s words left Gavyn speechless, his lips pressed tightly together.
Those memories from before the divorce, those nameless emotions, accompanied by the evening
breeze, surged into my heart like wild horses
breaking free from their reins, wildly and uncontrollably.
A heavy feeling weighed on his chest, as if a hand was tightly gripping his heart.
“Do you still love me?” Gavyn gazed at Aylin quietly for a long time before finally managing to squeeze
out the question through his slightly parted lips.
Aylin lowered her eyes gently. “I don’t.”
Without a hint of hesitation.
Gavyn’s heart was pierced once again, but Aylin seemed much more at ease.
“Let bygones be bygones. I used to cling to you shamelessly, but now I’ve come to my senses. I know
I’ve caused you quite some trouble, and I promise it won’t happen again.”
Gavyn wanted to say, “Actually, it’s not like that.”
He didn’t feel that it was a bother; in fact, he still looks back on it with fondness even now.
But Aylin didn’t give him a chance to speak.
“Gavyn, let’s just leave it at that.”
She looked up at the brilliant night sky, where the stars twinkled like the bright new life that awaited her.
“I’ve already said goodbye to my past self, and I hope you have too. The reason I’m telling you this
today is to make it clear that both you and that marriage are in the past for me.
I’ve let it go, and I hope you won’t bring it up again!
