Arriving at Sangine County Mall, Yvette got out of the car to shop, with Ray following her. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks. "Someone's following us." Yvette, hearing this, stopped as well. "Is it Xavier's bodyguards?" They hadn't gone far from home. Also, Yvette didn't like having a bunch of people trailing her. Typically, the bodyguards wouldn't come.
"No, they are unfamiliar faces. Let's go shopping first." "Alright." Yvette always trusted Ray. Claude had once said that even 20 ordinary people wouldn't be a match for Ray. Ray had fought his way out of a pile of dead bodies.
Inside the mall, Yvette picked out clothes for her family. Clothes for the two children and the elderly were easy to choose. However, she hesitated when it cto Xavier.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtXavier used to wear expensive, custom-made clothes, all in black and white, which made him look particularly dull and unenergetic. Thinking about this, Yvette chose sinexpensive, brightly colored clothes for Xavier. "Ray, why don't you pick out a couple of outfits too?" Ray, standing by the door, was momentarily stunned by Yvette's words. He immediately declined. "Thank you, but there is no need for that." Yvette thought for a moment. She remembered Ray had previously returned to his hometown and had called off his engagement. Perhaps he now had a girlfriend and didn't want Yvette to buy clothes for him? Yvette quickly explained, "Please don't misunderstand. If you choose something, I'll cover the cost as your boss. If your girlfriend finds out, she won't be upset." As a woman, she understood boundaries and knew she shouldn't buy clothes for men who were attached.
A rare and unusual expression crossed Ray's cold, stern face. "I do not have a girlfriend. I wouldn't accept it just because I get paid." When Ray had called off his engagement, it was partly because there were no feelings involved due to an arranged marriage, and partly because his fiancée had betrayed him. Yvette felt even more awkward. "Alright." She couldn't help thinking that Ray was impressive for refusing the benefits offered by his employer. She thought about giving him several times his salary as a reward when the finances were settled this month.
After shopping, they went to the underground parking lot, where Ray helped her put the items into the trunk. At that moment, about five men carrying iron rods emerged from a dim corner.
Ray's eyes narrowed coldly. He said to Yvette, "Get in the car." "Alright. Be careful." Yvette opened the car door and sat inside.
When the leader of the men saw Ray's tall figure and fair face, he thought all Ray had was his looks. The leader wasn't intimidated at all.
"The woman is the one we're after. Piss off if you don't want to die." However, Ray ignored his words, slowly finishing putting away the items and closing the trunk.
"Who sent you?" he casually asked.
The leader smirked. "Why do you care who sent me? You should scram if you don't want to die." With his long arms, Ray took off his suit jacket and tossed it aside.

The leader was surprised. "Wow, he's not scared of dying at all. Get him!" After all their employer was powerful. It wouldn't matter if they killed someone. Several burly men moved toward Ray right then.
From inside the car, Yvette saw Ray deal with them effortlessly. Within 15 minutes, all six men were lying on the Sjall ground, groaning in pain, unable to get up. Ray approached the leader and stepped on his hand. "Tellwho sent you."
The leader cried out in pain and pleaded, "I don't know! It's a secretary with the surnLurve. Sir, don't hurt me. I'll give you her phone number."
