Chapter 318
Emmett stayed silent.
Elio figured he was just wasting his time. He shrugged, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my merry way, Mr.
Melendez.”.
He shot a glance at Emmett before leaving the room.
After watching him leave, Emmett shot Matt a look.
Matt immediately got the hint, “I’ll have someone tail him ASAP, Mr. Melendez. No need to worry.”
Emmett simply nodded. With Clara missing, he was on pins and needles.
He worried that his unique status might have pissed off the wrong person. He didn’t even want to think about the
consequences if someone kidnapped Clara for business reasons and not because of some petty squabble.

Clara felt like she was in a dream. She dreamed about her dad coming back for money and Emmett finding out the
truth.
If it weren’t for the soreness in her shoulder when she turned, she might still think she was dreaming.
Clara opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, feeling dumbfounded for a while.
“Where am I?”
She quickly got up and scanned the room.
She was certain she’d never been there before.
There was only one door in the room. Clara quickly opened it and found a maid at the door, who bowed at her
sight.
“Hello, Ms. Calloway, may I assist you?”

Clara asked, a little puzzled, “Can you tell me where I am? How did I end up here?”
She remembered being with Elio, but what happened afterward was a total blank.
Despite her best efforts, Clara couldn’t recall anything.
“Ms. Calloway, don’t worry. We’re not going to harm you. We’re here to take care of you. You just need to stay
here.”
“Stay here? Who told you to take care of me?”
“Well… you’ll know when he gets back.”
Clara was a little confused, so she decided to go out and see where she was.
But as she was about to leave the villa, the maid suddenly stopped her, “Ms. Calloway, he said you can’t go out! If
you need anything, just tell me.”

After all, she’d gone to meet Elio before she passed out. She could guess that much.
As the maid was about to answer, footsteps came from the living room.
“You’re quite sharp, Clara.”
It was Elio’s voice!
Clara’s brow furrowed as she watched him warily, “What did you bring me here for? Let me go!”
After seeing her reaction, Elio felt a pang in his heart, “Are you wary of me, Clara? Have I ever hurt you?”
Looking at the hurt in Elio’s eyes and recalling his past help, Clara felt guilty, and her guard dropped a little.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to offend you. I’m just confused about your sudden actions. I don’t understand why you did
this.” “Do you trust me?”
Elio looked her in the eye, making it impossible for Clara to avoid his gaze.
“Elio, can you just tell me the truth? Stop making me guess. Emmett will be furious if he finds out I sneaked out! I
told his assistant I’d be back soon, so he’d help me cover this up. If Emmett finds out, he’ll be in hot water too!”,”
