Dorothy was lost in thought, the silence stretching on. To be more precise, she was at a loss for words.
In Everett's presence, she always felt an overwhelming gratitude, unsure of how she could possibly repay him for all he's done...
Over the phone, sensing his wife's turmoil, he chuckled softly, "I'll be hsoon. Wait for me, will you?"
"Yeah, I will."
After hanging up, Dorothy gently caressed her daughter's tiny feet, her eyes misty with emotion as she smiled.
"Mama is the luckiest person in the world, don't you think?"
The day they moved back into Bay Residence was gloriously sunny.
Just the sight of the weather lifted Dorothy's spirits!
The place had been ready for a while, but Everett had delayed moving in, concerned about the safety of their baby.
As their belongings were gradually moved in, Dorothy stood by Everett, a constant smile on her lips.
"We're finally back."
"Yes." He tenderly ruffled her hair. "The lady of Bay Residence."
Her laughter bubbled up, feigning annoyance, "Someone wanted to sell this place before, remember?"
"How could | part with it after you've lived here?"
"Ah? I'm curious, what if..."

Before she could finish, Everett swiftly interjected, "No what ifs. Only you can be the lady of this house. | would never sell it, even if
you never ave my mother. No other woman would live here."
He had given Dorothy all the answers she needed.
She paused, then reached out to intertwine her fingers with his.
"Let's go home!"
"Okay."
They walked back into Bay Residence together.
The original parts of the house hadn't changed, only expanded by an additional building, connecting the two.
Dorothy touched the hallway cab, the dining room chairs, each object familiar andforting.
"Let's check out the master bedroom."
Everett, with an arm around her shoulder, raised an eyebrow.
"Okay."
Leading the way, he teased, "You open the door."
"You've prepared a surprise?"
He smirked, "Open it and see."
Curious, Dorothy pushed open the master bedroom door.
It was exactly as they left it, with no changes —
Except for a letter placed in the middle of the bed.
She glanced at Everett, then walked over to pick it up.
"This...isn't this the letter you wrote to me..."
"Yes, you always wanted to see it."
"Can | open it now?"
He nodded, "Go ahead."
She carefully opened the envelope, anxious not to tear it.

The letter was brief, in Everett's handwriting, distinct yet strong.
[ODorothy,
I'm Everett, your desk mate.
| like you.
Let's study well and achieve our dreams for the future.[]
Dorothy read the letter over and over, tears mingling with smiles.
After a moment, she looked up at Everett.
"Your love letter...doesn't really sound like one..."
His breath warm on her, he whispered close to her ear.
"Dorothy, my envisioned future was with you. Have | achieved it?"
"Then congratulations, you got your wish."
"Yeah, a life well spent."
