"Dorothy, how on earth did you end up covering costs for the Trust-E project?" Dorothy inquired, her skepticism fueled by Everett's
recent odd behavior. "Everett, is there something going on at the end of the month?"
"Yeah, there's something you absolutely must attend."
She raised an eyebrow. "Work-related?"
"I can't tell you."
Dorothy pouted. "Oh,e on, givea hint. Is it something good or bad?"
She needed speace of mind.
Otherwise, with her relentless curiosity, she'd never stop pondering.
Everett pondered seriously before responding, "I'd say... it's something good."
"Good or bad, why the 'probably'? Are you sure it's not work-related?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Absolutely not." He pulled her close, a touch of irritation in his voice. "Why have you taken over my role as the workaholic? It's like
your mind is filled with nothing but work."
Everett had been worried his unusual behavior would tip Dorothy off!
But lately, she seemed to be all about work and projects, not giving a second thought to anything else!
Well, maybe it's for the best. After all, surprises are meant to be surprises.
"With Trust-E just getting off the ground, | don't have much choice! As the CEO of the Lopez Corporation, you should understand!
Starting apany isn't just about my personal finances anymore - it's about ensuring the livelihood of all our employees. | don't
want them to trustonce only to let them down."
Everett understood all too well.
But still...
He felt as though he wasn't as important to Dorothy as her work.
And this kind of jealousy was something he couldn't just voice out loud. It was too embarrassing to admit, so he kept it to himself.
"Helpfigure this out, will you? Don't just offer to cover the costs. | want to gain experience and learn how to tackle problems,
not just ask you for money." Dorothy grabbed his hand, giving it a shake. "Honey?"
With that word, Everett would nod to anything!
He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her deeply before sighing, "Sendthe due diligence materials and the contracts
from the otherpanies."
"OK!" Dorothy chirped, turning to fetch her laptop.
"Hey, don't run! Walk slowly! Dorothy, remember you're pregnant!"
With Everett's guidance, Dorothy managed to minimize the losses, and she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The next morning, as always, he dropped her off at Trust-E Investments. He waited until she entered the building before driving
away.

"There's a business gala in Eldorria City tonight, and you're invited! Will you attend?"
"A gala? Is it mainly for the investment banking sector?"
"Not entirely." The secretary smiled. "Mr. Lopez will also be there."
Hearing this, Dorothy's lips curved into a smile. "Then I'll attend. Helparrange my schedule to see if | can make it."
"Of course, you can!" the secretary responded promptly. "I've already checked, and today is perfect for you to attend the gala."
Dorothy hadn't been too concerned initially, but the secretary's quick response made her suspect a "trap."
"Usually, business galas are at the beginning of the month. Why is this one at the end?"
"I'm not sure about that."
Dorothy gave her a glance, then gestured for her to go. "Alright, you can go."
As the secretary turned to leave, Dorothy suddenly called out, "Hey, what's the date today? | need to sign scontracts and
ot."
"It's the 25th, Ms. Sanchez."
