Before Dorothy could even utter a word, tears were already streaming down Abigail's face.
“Mommy, I'm so sorry! Mommy, do you think brother will never want to play withagain? He must be so mad at me!”
Everett, who was inside the hospital room, heard his daughter's cries and immediately cout.
“What's going on?”
He scooped Abigail into his arms and looked towards Dorothy.
Dorothy quickly waved her hands, “I didn’t say anything to her, she just started crying on her own!”
At that moment, Dorothy was genuinely grateful to be the biological mother. Given how Everett doted on his daughter, who knows
what might have happened otherwise!
“Daddy, I'm scared brother will hatenow!”
Clinging to Everett's neck, Abigail's tears flowed even more freely, cascading down her cheeks.
“Your brother's not mad at you, he'll always be your brother!”
Abigail's crying was enough to send Everett into a frenzy.

Dorothy sighed and shook her head.
Upon entering the hospital room, she saw Langston attempting to climb out of bed!
She rushed over, “You can’t move, the doctor said you've fractured your leg and need to rest!”
“My sister's crying.”
“I'll bring her in, you can’t move.” Dorothy quickly pushed her son back onto the bed and called out to the hallway.
But Abigail, knowing she had caused trouble, was too embarrassed to face her brother and refused toe in, staying by the
doorway.
“Your brother really isn't mad at you.” Everett had just wiped away a round of tears from his daughter's face when the next flood
came.
Dorothy stepped out, took her daughter's hand, “Don’t you believe me? Let's go in and see your brother. He's not mad.”
Upon hearing this, Abigail burst into even more intense tears.
“I made brother like this, and he’s not even mad, I'm so sorry...”
“Abigail!”
Left with no other choice, Langston had to call out from the room, e here, | have something to say to you.”
Abigail timidly looked at her dad, burying her head into his neck, too scared to face the situation.
Everett smiled helplessly.
“You're just like your mom! Always wanting to hide away when things get tough.”
“..." Dorothy pouted, “Why are you bringinginto this?”
She might have liked to hide away from problems in the past, but that was no longer the case.
“Abigail, if you don’te in, your brother will have toe out! And he can’t walk on that leg, it'll hurt a lot.”
With that said, Abigail finally sniffled and nodded, her voice shaky.
“Then I'll go see brother.”
Langston’s biggest fear was seeing Abigail cry.
He would rather endure the pain himself than have her feel any hurt.
Everett carried her into the room, but she still clung tightly to her father’s shirt, refusing to look up.

Dorothy couldnt help but laugh and cry at the stime, “Your sister's just embarrassed.”
“] know.” Langston frowned and extended his hand, “Abigail,e here.”
Abigail hesitated for a moment but eventually let Everett set her down, inching closer to the bed.
“Brother...”
“Did you get hurt? The horse didn’t touch you, right?”
Abigail obediently shook her head, “No.”
“That's all that matters.”
Before Langston could say another word, Abigail's lips quivered, and her eyes welled up—
He immediately frowned, “No crying, hold it back!”
“..." The cry that was on the brink of escaping was somehow stifled back by Abigail.
Dorothy glanced at Everett standing beside her, almost bursting into laughter.
“See? The only one who can manage your daughter is her brother!”
