Nadine only exchanged a few extra words with Tyler because she wanted to find out who had assaulted her all those years ago. She was planning to sue the perpetrator and needed a witness. But the moment she learned that Julia was the key witness, she changed her mind.
Nadine hated the man who had assaulted her back then. She longed to drag him to court and see him behind bars where he would pay for what he did. But she despised Julia even more.
She would much rather stay in the dark about who her assaulter was than have to ask Julia for help. The mere thought of asking Julia for help felt more painful than death itself.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThus, it was better to just let it go. After all, so many years had passed, and for all she knew, the man could very well be dead by now.
Back then, she had cursed him and loathed him with all her being. But what did any of it accomplish besides tearing herself apart? Eventually, Avery advised her to let it go, to stop dwelling on painful memories, and to look ahead. It was only then that she gradually learned to let the past rest.
Now that Tyler had brought up the past again, she thought there might be a new lead. Little did she know, it was actually his cruel revenge.
She had already emerged from the shadows of that incident from six years ago. As Avery said, the past was set in stone, so she had to look forward and live each day to the fullest.
After returning to her seat, Nadine was about to ask Sean if he wanted anything else to eat when she heard Brad's voice force its way out through his gritted teeth. She lifted her gaze and glanced at him but had no intention of answering.
The two of them were divorced, and she had no connection to him. There was no reason to cater to his every need or keep him updated on everything happening in her life. She certainly didn't need to concern herself with his bad mood.
Hence, she ignored him and turned her attention to Sean instead. "Have you had enough to eat, baby? Do you want anything else?" she asked gently.
She didn't want to argue in front of Sean. She only wanted this meal to be over and done with so they could part ways and move on. If it hadn't been for Sean's request, she would never have sat down for a meal with her ex- husband. sŵ Sean shook his head, patting his round little belly. "I'm full, Mommy! I don't want anything else! Daddy asked you a question, and you haven't answered him yet." Her eyes widened. Nadine had always thought of Sean as her sweet little angel. But now, she realized her angel had holes in bet wings Gritting her teeth, shee glanced at her son before turning to Brad. Locking eyes with him, she replied coolly, "I'm not into him!" She never did. She honestly had no idea where Brad got that impression.

Ever since he learned about Jack's existence, he knew she had only seen him as a replacement, and it had eaten at him. Even so, he couldn't stand the thought of other guys being around Nadine, especially Tyler. Without sparing him a glance, she responded, "Do you think everything you believe is the truth? In that case, I could have sworn you were in love with Jean!"
Speaking of Jean, it had been ages since she heard any news about her. The media had torn her to shreds, e with seven wanting to send her to jail yet she still hadn't heard anything about Jean. Brad must have hidden her away somewhere safe. See? That was the difference between loving someone and not. Because he loved Jean, he was willing to protect her and provide her with a safe haven, even after everything she had done.
Meanwhile, she, who wasn't loved by Brad, had lost even her dignity and felt like nothing but an empty shell. That was all there was to it.
Thus, divorcing him was the best decision she ever made. It allowed her to return Brad rad to Jean an@find herself again. Love was a luxury, and when you couldn't even take care of yourself, you shouldn't be longing for such a thing.
