Chapter 731 The graveyard at midnight was enveloped in a tranquil darkness. Moonlight filtered through scattered clouds, casting a mottled glow on the tombstones, adding an air of mystery and melancholy to this silent place.

A gentle breeze brushed through, carrying the soft rustling of leaves, almost like the murmurs of wandering spirits. The trees surrounding the area loomed in the shadows, resembling countless unseen eyes peering into the night.

Every so often, a nightbird soared across the sky, letting out a sharp cry that pierced through the quiet of the night before quickly vanishing into the darkness. The air was thick with the rich scent of damp soil, mixed with a delicate floral fragrance, reminding one of the cycles of life and inevitable endings.

In this graveyard, each tombstone bore witness to a story, each na reminder of a life once lived. Tseemed to slow, weighed down by the heavy burdens of life and death.

Brad had been held up by the gravekeeper's questioning, and by the the finally stepped into the eerie graveyard, Nadine was nowhere to be seen. The graveyard was vast, and as he scanned the area under the moonlight, he spotted a small figure amidst the last row of stones.

As he made his way up the slope, he heard Nadine's soft sobs before he even got close. She was clinging to the cold tombstone, wishing she could becone with it, crying her heart out. "Jack, I miss you so much! If you were here, you'd definitely protect me, right? "Jack, they say when people die, their souls remain. If you can see me, could you givea hug?" Nadine had been feeling very down lately, and the doctor suspected she was suffering from depression and had started her on antidepressants. But for sreason, they didn't seem to be helping much.

She had so much pain bottled up inside that just crying and clinging to the cold tombstone were no longer enough to fulfill her emotional needs.

As soon as she saw Jack's tombstone, tears streamed down her face. If Jack were still alive, she wouldn't have to go through this. He was the one who loved her the most, and he most definitely wouldn't allow her to feel any pain, let alone suffer.

Nadine was on the verge of breaking down as she hugged Jack's cold tombstone, her thin hospital gown barely protecting her from the chill. Her shoulders shook as she sobbed, "I miss you so much, Jack. Please just show up for a moment and keepcompany, even if it's just for a few seconds, will you?" With every word she said, Brad's expression darkened further. He stood in the cold night wind and watched her cry, his hands slowly curling into fists. However, he never stepped forward or offered her any comfort.

For the first time, he understood what he meant to meant to Nadine just an Nadine-justam upimportant substitute. He had never seen her in such a state met

despair before, nor could he have imagined her clinging to a cold m tombstone and crying as if her very life depended on it.

He realized that this was the reason Nadine would always ask him for a day off after the New Year's Off celebrations, claiming she was going to visit a friend. So, that friend was Jack. Since she had never forgotten about Jack after all these years, why did she pretend to love him?
