Chapter 360 The Master Of Jonathan
Mabel was stunned.
The idea had occurred to her before, but she had not given it any further thought beyond that. After all, it sounded
too ridiculous to be true.
To her shock, Jonathan admitted to it readily.
How is that possible?
An overwhelming swirl of emotions flooded Mabel's mind.
Tristan, who was known as the Demon Emperor, was an exceptionally cruel and wicked individual. On the other
hand, Jonathan had an incredibly kind and benevolent heart.
Of course, Mabel knew she shouldn't think that way. No matter how wicked Tristan was, that had nothing to do with
Jonathan.
“Why are you upset, Jonathan?” she asked in concern as there seemed to be something else weighing on his mind.
She added, “So what if Tristan is your father? You're still you. You have already become a skilled expert in the
Celestial Soul level, so there is no need to feel lost or perplexed.”
Jonathan glanced at her and explained, “Tristan was the one who killed my mother.”
“What?” Mabel gaped incredulously again. “Are you sure?” she asked in disbelief.
Jonathan revealed, “Tristan told me that himself. He has no reason to lie to me. I don't think he will lower himself to
fabricate a lie.”
Mabel finally understood Jonathan's anguish.
“But why would he do that?” she inquired.
Jonathan shook his head. “I don't know much.” He paused before continuing, “Nevertheless, Tristan gave me a clue
about my mother. Her name was Paige Liamson, and she was originally from Horbah. Do you think you could help
me find out more about her?”
Mabel agreed instantly. “Sure. Let me look into it.”
“Will it be an easy task?” Jonathan asked.
Mabel told him, “Since Paige is related to Tristan, that means she was involved in the Divine War. It shouldn't be that
hard to investigate her.”
Jonathan perked up and offered, “Let's look into it together.”
Mabel responded, “Sure, but you should shower and grab a bite before we start our investigation.”
Jonathan bobbed his head in agreement.
Two hours later, Jonathan was clad in fresh clothes after taking a shower at Mabel's house. His freshly shaved jaw
gave his face a clean, smooth look.
Jonathan had pondered over many things. The Great Tribulation made him understand that his life was simply a tiny
piece of a much larger puzzle, and he was just a pawn.
He couldn't change his destiny and had to go along with it.
When Jonathan was in the shower, Mabel started investigating Paige with the help of Jeff.
When he stepped out of the shower, Mabel reported, “I did some research on Paige Liamson and discovered that
she hailed from the county of Ironwell in Horbah. I have already made the necessary arrangements for a private
helicopter, so we can set off for Ironwell immediately.”
Jonathan gave an eager nod. “Okay. Let's depart now.”
The private helicopter soon took flight, soaring through the clouds.
Jonathan and Mabel began on another journey.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHowever, Jonathan wasn't as carefree as before.
“The heroes grow up in a cradle made of iron,With brave hearts, they visit the almighty gods,
But before that, I often
feel: instead of struggling alone,It's better to peacefully fall asleep.
”
Despite feeling exhausted, Jonathan knew his journey had yet to begin.
He had no right to feel tired now.
At the same time, a desolate song played on the helicopter.
Mabel was the one responsible for playing this particular song. She was determined to ensure that Jonathan was
feeling relaxed instead of exhausted.
The lyrics were as follows:
“Moonlight splashing upon the Milky Way, what a long and arduous journey. The wind brings smoke spiraling into the
sky, my solitary figure is waning.Seeking God's help, but the shore is nowhere in sight.Kneel to the master so that
life and death become irrelevant.
Good and evil, true and false, coexist in this mortal world.
Carnal thoughts drift away, leaving obscurity
behind. It’s hard to find the answer.
What do I do with this golden cudgel?
What then with all my transformations?
Still anxious, still down.
Golden cudgel right overhead, the weight on my mind nearly said.
I want this golden cudgel to destroy all evil.
I have the transformations to fight chaos.
Step onto the clouds, with heaven broken under my feet, I rebel and run wild.
In this crisis-ridden world, no one can hide from fate.
This golden cudgel will dispel your demons to ashes and smoldering smoke.
”
Jonathan was still in a daze after the song came to an end.
He resonated with the hero in the song as his aura and feelings came from his Great Sage Force Field.
The hero was helpless, just like him. He knew he had to stand up to Tristan but couldn't bring himself to do so.
Horbah wasn't far from Yaleview, so it took them less than one hour to arrive at their destination.
The road leading to Ironwell wasn't well-maintained, but their private helicopter landed in the county itself.
The county was pretty underdeveloped, making it rare to encounter cars traveling through the area. The sudden
arrival of the helicopter took the children and villagers by surprise, causing them to scramble out of their homes to
marvel at the unexpected sight.
As Jonathan and Mabel stepped out of the helicopter at noon, they were greeted by the brilliant rays of the sun.
Jonathan took in the sight of the crumbling asphalt road with its numerous potholes. Then, he surveyed the homes
that lined the street.
Obviously, it had been ages since the road was last repaired.
Jonathan felt a strange sense of both fascination and apprehension as he found himself inexplicably drawn to the
place.
The place felt strangely familiar to him.
My mother grew up here, so this is where my roots began!
While Jonathan spaced out, Mabel retrieved a motorbike from the helicopter.
It weighed a whopping five hundred kilograms, but Mabel brought it out with just one hand.
The children and villagers surrounding them were awestruck by her effortlessly cool action.
Is that a prop? Are they here to film something?
Mabel soon started the engine, and Jonathan sat behind her.
The motorbike roared to life and soon disappeared from sight, leaving the confused crowd behind.
The motorbike drove steadily toward the village, and as they got closer, Jonathan noticed the vast fields of
rapeseed around them, and he inhaled the fresh air that drifted through the countryside.
The sky was an expansive royal blue, dotted with white fluffy clouds that resembled clumps of freshly fallen snow.
They were far away from the city.
Paige had grown up in Fiver Village, which was situated just ahead.
Kids were frolicking around at the entrance of the village, but they quickly dispersed when they noticed strangers
approaching.
Kids who grew up in villages were often shyer around unfamiliar people than those who had lived in cities for the
majority of their life.
Mabel and Jonathan walked into the village to see an elderly man sunbathing in front of his house, his face full of
wrinkles.
Seeing him, Mabel went to him and asked a few questions, but he didn't understand her at all.
She had no choice but to give up, and they both ventured deeper into the village.
Soon, they bumped into a man in his fifties.
Living in a village could often cause people to age more rapidly.
The elderly man was hunched as he focused on breaking corn cobs.
Mabel and Jonathan went over to him. “Sir, can I ask you something?” Mabel asked politely.
After giving Mabel and Jonathan a quick glance, the man nodded profusely. They were obviously from the city, so he
was careful not to do anything that might provoke them.
Generally speaking, poor living conditions often gave rise to individuals who were cunning and evil. Residents of
small villages that were linked to the outside world tended to be very self-centered and could not bear to witness
other people enjoying a better quality of life. If someone were to come and start a fish pond, they would likely be
met with hostility and potentially be the target of betrayal.
Besides, the villagers had a bad habit of comparing themselves to others.
Conversely, in rural and less affluent villages, the farmers tended to be more forthcoming and honest.
The man immediately said, “Sure. Go ahead.”
He spoke in a Horbah accent.
Mabel and Jonathan found it difficult to comprehend what he was saying, but they persevered and eventually
managed to make sense of it.
Mabel asked, “Sir, do you know a young lady named Paige Liamson in this village?”
“Paige Liamson?” The man was visibly surprised, but he quickly answered, “She died years ago.” He shot them both
a baffled look. “Who are you?”
“Paige Liamson is my mother,” Jonathan revealed solemnly.
“What?” The man gaped incredulously as he started observing Jonathan. “Are you really her son?”
Jonathan nodded.
The man grew excited. “No wonder you look familiar to me. Back when your mother got pregnant, the villagers
gave her disapproving looks. Later, she suddenly passed away, and everyone said she deserved it. We assumed you

Jonathan's heart sank.
The man added, “Son, I'm your Uncle Kale! My wife and I took care of your mother back then.”
Jonathan's face lit up with joy as he gazed at Kale.
Kale beckoned warmly, “Come in!”
“Uncle Kale, I won't come in now. Can you tell me where my mom used to live? I'd like to take a look at her place,”
Jonathan told him.
Kale was surprised, but he quickly regained his composure and nodded.
He explained, “Someone else is staying in your mom's house. He came here ten years ago and gave us some
money. Your mom wasn't around, and the house was pretty run-down, so we agreed to let him stay. I hope you
won't blame us for that!”
“A man came here ten years ago?” Jonathan's heart leaped to his throat. Could it be my master?
“Hurry, bring me there!” Jonathan urged.
Kale led them to Paige's house.
Indeed, Paige's house was in a state of neglect and disrepair. It comprised two buildings with a small vegetable
patch situated beside them.
Before the house was an empty compound that was overgrown with weeds.
The green paint of the wooden door was peeling.
When Jonathan came to a stop outside the house, the door creaked open.
A middle-aged man with an unshaven face and wearing a grey shirt suddenly appeared before them.
When Jonathan laid eyes on the man, he immediately recognized him as his beloved master!
After all, it was this man who brought him up and taught him everything he knew.
“Master!” Tears filled Jonathan's eyes.
His eyes reddened as he burst into tears.
Jonathan had endured a great deal of hardship in his life, and he was convinced that he had no family members
remaining in the world.
Thus, his master was his only relative.
Jonathan gazed at the man intently.
The man was visibly surprised to see Jonathan.
“Jon? Why are you here?”
Both of them were deeply moved as they were finally reunited.
They then entered the house.
Kale took his leave as he wanted to prepare dinner for everyone. He invited Jonathan and the rest to have dinner at
his house later.
Jonathan accepted his invitation readily.
“I left the furnishings exactly as they were. I would often come here to do some cleaning, although I never stayed
here for too long when you were with me,” Jonathan's master explained.
The man's name was Vernon Wicksley.
Mabel and Vernon kept Jonathan company as he took in everything in the house—the comb, the mirror, and the
mosquito net, among others.
Everything looked so familiar and reminded him of his mother.
It was only at that moment that Jonathan came to the realization that his teacher, Vernon, was not an elite as he
had initially believed. Vernon was only in the final stage of Neutralizing Force and had been stagnant for several
decades.
