S31 87. The Gunshot
Emily put her hands together in front of her chest. Her prayer sounded loud in the car. Louis could only
agree. He was too busy thinking about how to deal with the enemy.
In the midst of the fierce battle, suddenly, Emily felt a vibration from her watch. Seeing the call coming
from Frank, she breathed a sigh of relief.
“Daddy!”
“Princess, where is your brother?”
Emily brought her watch closer to Louis.
“Daddy! We are under attack. We’re hiding in the Range Rover, but it turns out, they have a level 8 rifle!
The car window can only withstand two shots. The left-side window has been hit twice! So I turned the
car to face the rifle,” Louis explained before flinching because a bullet had just hit the windshield.
“Turn the car towards seven o’clock!
“Okay, Daddy. Seven o’clock, seven o’clock.”
“That way, Louis!” Emily helped him thinking.
Quickly, Louis carried out the order. Just as he stopped the car, a bullet hit the arm of the man with the
rifle.
“Aargh!”
The shot that should have hit the car instead dived towards the floor.
Instantly, all the guards pointed their guns to where the bullet had come from. “Who is there?”
While everyone was busy looking around, from the opposite direction,
someone ran as fast as light. He put a knife to the shooter’s neck and grabbed the rifle.
“He’s here!”
As the mysterious figure pressed the blade’s edge deeper into his captive’s neck, Victor’s men turned
around. He didn’t care how many guns were pointed at him. While using the shooter’s body as cover,
he stepped back towards the car. The muzzle of the rifle pointed at
Victor.
“Drop your weapons or this bullet will penetrate your master’s brain!”
Victor gasped. He knew that the shooter had just loaded the rifle and used one bullet. There were still

him.
Because of that, his body was frozen, completely motionless. His
eyes trembled as he learned the figure covering his face with a black hat and mask. Meanwhile, his
men were all forced to put their guns
on the floor.
In the car, the twins shouted for joy. “That’s Daddy! That’s Daddy! Daddy has come to pick us up.”
The twins no longer felt threatened. They got out of the car and hugged Frank from behind.
“Daddy! Daddy! We know Daddy would come.”
Seeing the two toddlers, the ship passengers who were recklessly lurking around gasped.
“Are they still children? The ones who hijacked the car and caused the chaos were children?”
“Isn’t that Louis and Emily? The famous businessman’s children? Then, that’s Frank Harper?”

“Jeez, what actually happened?”
Meanwhile, Victor snorted. His body relaxed more when he knew that the figure was his biggest
enemy.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on another ship?”
“Saving children is my priority.”
Victor let out a laugh. His hand was stuck in his pocket. “So, you
rejected my offer? That means you have to be prepared to face the consequences.”
“You are the one who should be prepared to face the consequences of your actions.”
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter started to be heard. The phone in Victor’s pocket vibrated. As a
bad feeling rose in his heart, Victor got tensed.
“I have reported all your crimes to the police. Now, you can’t run anymore,” Frank said firmly.
“My crimes?” Victor furrowed one eyebrow. “It should’ve been you kids’ crimes. Look what they’ve
done. They caused a ruckus here. They stole my car and trashed my dining room. Who’s supposed to
be responsible, huh?”
“Don’t change the subject, Victor Moore. You know very well what I mean. Haven’t you been the head
of the smuggling mafia all this time?”
Victor gritted his teeth. However, his expression did not change much. “You have no right to accuse me
carelessly.”
“I’ve collected the evidence. Smuggling of drugs, goods, women, and even children. You can no longer
avoid it. Moreover, now the whole world knows about it.”
Victor’s composure finally wavered. His eyes blinked a few times and he swallowed hard. “Stop your
bullshit!”
“Check your phone. You’ll see I’m not making this up.”
Victor was still trying to calm down. He took out his phone then. checked the notifications. Apparently,
dozens of messages came to his email. Hundreds of messages flooded his chat box. Not to
mention several calls from clients and the media.
Victor’s composure was finally broken. However, he still tried to cover it up. “There is nothing here.”
“If you’re confused, just check the headline news. Your face is already plastered there.”
Victor secretly complied. When he found his name in the top five hash tags, he laughed dryly. “You
think all this can tear me down?”
“Yes. Don’t you know yet? Your fellow cops have just been arrested. There’s no one left for you to
conspire with, Victor Moore.”
The curve of Victor’s lips faltered. He scrolled the screen, checkin news outside of trending. Figuring
out what Frank meant, his breathing turned heavy.
“This time, don’t blame other people. You were the one who crossed the line first. If you don’t disturb
my children, I won’t disturb your life either.”
With a sharp gaze, Frank focused on Victor’s men. “Now it’s up to you. Do you still want to side with
your master and get dragged to prison, or change direction? The police will be here soon.”
Just as Frank finished speaking, several people entered, brandishing weapons. “Freeze!”
Victor’s men immediately raised their hands, and their master
grimaced, cursing silently.
“Victor Moore, we have received order to arrest you.”
An officer showed a badge along with a warrant. He then explained what Victor had been charged with.
However, the old man didn’t listen. His eyes were fixed on the gun
holstered on the officer’s waist. Before the words “you are under

“Louis!”
Frank spontaneously released the captive and jumped to save his son. He managed to secure Louis in
his arms. However, when they both landed on the floor, the toddler groaned.
“Aaargh! Aaargh…!”
Louis’ eyes closed tightly. His arms crossed in front of his chest.
Seeing his face scrunched up as if he was in pain, Frank’s heart was beating wildly.
“Is Louis hurt?”
Emily’s voice snapped Frank to his senses. He blinked then rushed lay his son on the floor.
“Louis, where does it hurt?”
Louis didn’t answer. He kept to groan and hugged himself.
Frank checked on his son thoroughly. Finding no trace of blood, Frank’s furrowed brows changed
meaning. Emily also showed the
same expression.
“What’s wrong with Louis, Daddy?”
Frank scanned their surroundings carefully. Finding a small bullet

embedded in the wooden floor near them, he sighed in relief, half laughing.
“You weren’t shot, Buddy. Victor missed his target. Look!”
Hearing that, Louis opened his eyes. His eyebrows were arched high, his mouth rounded. “He missed
it?”
He sat up, touching his chest and head. There were no new holes in his body.
“Thank God! I thought I was hit by a gunshot because my heart was beating so fast.”
Frank let out a chuckle. Shaking his head faintly, he pulled Louis into a hug.
“Thank God you’re safe. I was really afraid that you would get shot. felt useless if I failed to protect you.
