When Lambert reached Estelle’s door, he didn’t knock, knowing all too well that Estelle would not be
awake.
Presently, once Estelle slept, she couldn’t wake on her own—she had to be called.
Pushing the door open, Lambert took a seat at the edge of the bed, gazing at Estelle’s pained
expression as she slept. The sight twisted his heart with a sharp pang of distress.
What nightmares must be haunting her to cause such terror?
He had searched the world for medicine that would purge the toxins from her body, yet the effects were
minimal at best.
Estelle was still trapped in her dreams, unable to wake.
She once delighted in her sleep, but now, it had twisted into a cruel torment.
With a heavy heart, Lambert’s voice softened as he called out to her, “Rella, wake up!”

“The sun will tan your behind!”
Finally, he had no choice but to shake her arm vigorously. Estelle jolted awake with a look of sheer
panic, her breaths coming in rapid gasps as her eyes fixated on some unseen point in the air.
Seeing her pallor and distress, Lambert reached out with a tissue to dab the cold sweat on her
forehead but was halted by her icy stare.
He withdrew his hand awkwardly and asked, “Had another nightmare? Did you take the medicine I
gave you?”
Estelle sat up, her demeanor slowly steadying, and said in a firm voice, “My affairs are none of your
concern. Leave me; I need a shower!”
Her skin felt sticky and uncomfortable with sweat.
Lambert remained still. “You didn’t take it, did you? If I wanted to harm you, would I have risked my life
to rescue you from Raiden’s clutches?”
He was growing anxious. “Your condition is perilous. What if one day I call for you, and you can’t wake
up? Lynn warned us about the strong side effects of that concoction.”
Estelle’s gaze remained cold. “I’m aware. Now please leave!”
Lambert exhaled in frustration. “I’ve already apologized for my past mistakes, but stop gambling with
your health!”
“If you don’t trust the medicine I’ve found, I’ll take it myself to show you.”
“There’s no reason for me to save you only to harm you again.”

Estelle suddenly cut him off, her headache making her irritable. “Keep babbling, and I’ll throw you out
myself!”
“Babbling?” Lambert looked at her in disbelief. “You think I’m babbling? My God! No one’s ever
described me with that word before! With my good looks and stellar qualities, and you label me with

“You seem unfamiliar with ‘babbling’. Allow me to clarify—”
“You seem to misunderstand ‘babbling.’ It’s usually reserved for those who talk incessantly, but I am
noble, a gentleman.”
With a swift movement, Estelle kicked him off the bed, then sprang to her feet, grabbing his collar and
marching him out the door.
“Hey, hey!” Lambert protested. “Darling, what are you doing?”
She deposited him at the top of the stairs and with a swift kick sent him tumbling out. Without a
backward glance, she turned on her heel and strode away, her cool, imposing demeanor unaffected by
her pajamas.
Downstairs, Jonathan and Sylvia watched wide-eyed as Lambert tumbled down the stairs, wailing all
the way.
The two exchanged a look, speechless at the scene unfolding before them.
