Sylvia said with a smile that lit up the room, “She’s got her own mind, and that’s what makes her so
endearing. If it weren’t for that, how could you possibly be in love with her?”
The simmering irritation inside Jonathan was quickly soothed by Sylvia’s words. He turned to look at
her, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. “I can’t help but wonder, how did that guy ever let you go?”
Sylvia’s gaze faltered just a touch before she lifted her wine glass and took a delicate sip.
Jonathan slid into the seat Estelle had just vacated, eyeing the half-eaten slice of cheesecake in front
of him. He picked up the fork and continued where she left off, savoring each bite methodically.
Sylvia, taken aback by his boldness, lowered her voice, “Aren’t you being a bit too brazen?”
Estelle clearly didn’t want their relationship to be public knowledge.
Plus, Raiden was a mystery, his identity still a shadow they couldn’t pin down. With him lurking in the
dark, it was probably best they didn’t lay all their cards out in the open, making themselves a target for
suspicion.
Jonathan kept nibbling on the cheesecake, as if even her lingering presence was something he needed

Estelle excused herself to the restroom, where she removed her mask and splashed water on her face,
trying to clear her thoughts.
Jonathan must be fuming, and she wasn’t ready to face him just yet!
And if Raiden discovered her true identity, it would be wise to keep her distance from Alvis, to avoid
bringing trouble his way.
But how long could she delay their inevitable confrontation? She had no confidence in her ability to
avoid him indefinitely.
Despite the crises she faced, she never felt panic or fear, but facing him, she couldn’t remain
composed.
As Estelle stepped out, she overheard a conversation around a dimly lit corner.
“I heard Alvis is here!” a man said.
The reply came from Raiden, “Yes, he’s in the banquet hall.”
“I heard Alvis came with firepower. That kind of show of force doesn’t seem just for the sake of the new
energy deal,” the man speculated.
Raiden’s tone was indifferent, “If it’s not for the new energy, it must be for the weapons.”
The man whispered, “Is there any chance I could meet Alvis?”
Raiden scoffed, “What, looking to switch allegiances to Alvis?”
“Of course not, just wanted a glimpse. After all, no one has ever seen the real face of Alvis.”
Raiden’s voice dripped with sarcasm, “Go ahead, if you dare.”
The man seemed to hesitate, “Never mind then!”Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay

Their conversation ended, and Raiden stepped out from the shadows, heading toward the banquet hall.
Estelle recognized the voice of the man speaking with Raiden – it sounded familiar. Once Raiden had
left, she emerged from her hiding spot and approached the corner where the men had been talking.
By the time she got there, the man had already left down the staircase. Estelle caught just a glimpse of
his retreating figure but recognized him instantly.
Zack!
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe was taken aback.
Zack was in Zion, seemingly taking orders from Raiden.
After she had killed Wolverine, Zack, fearing Jonathan’s retaliation, had fled the country and hadn’t
dared return for years.
And now, he had sided with Raiden!
So, was Raiden’s vendetta against her spurred by Zack’s betrayal, revealing her role in Wolverine’s
demise?
No wonder Raiden recognized her.
But back when Zack had used Wolverine to target her, he only knew she was from Eagle Valley and
not her identity as Stella. How then did Raiden find out?
One mystery seemed to unravel only to be replaced by another.
Estelle watched Zack’s fading silhouette, a mix of shock and relief gripping her. She silently thanked
Lambert for coming up with the idea of the masquerade ball.
After all, Zack had seen Jonathan before. If they didn’t wear masks tonight, Jonathan’s identity could
have been exposed as well.
