The banquet hall was abuzz with the kind of noise that only true revelry can produce.
It was clear to all that Raiden had pulled out all the stops to welcome Alvis.
Alvis was the center of attention, naturally. The Brennans, an old noble family, had their share of
sycophants. Estelle seized the chance to slip away to a quiet corner, nibbling on canapés while
pondering whether to say something to Jonathan.
It was a headache, to be sure, but she couldn’t deny that Jonathan’s presence was a balm to her soul.
He was here!
Her lips curled into a small smile as she gazed through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling Zion,
truly appreciating its beauty for the first time.
Suddenly, a figure appeared before her. A woman in a scarlet dress took the seat across, not a word
said, yet her very presence was a tableau of grace and allure.
Estelle glanced over, her eyebrow arching slightly.

posture, “Let me introduce myself. I’m Beverly!”
Estelle nodded in acknowledgment, “Rella.”
Sylvia took a sip of her wine, turning to look at the nighttime panorama outside the window, “I never
realized Zion was this beautiful!”
Estelle studied the girl, and a flash of recognition struck her.
Sylvia!
Their first meeting had been at a soiree in J City, where Magdalen had introduced her, leaving a strong
impression. The second time Estelle saw her was just before Magdalen’s wedding, when Jonathan had
been abroad on business, and she had seen a photo of Sylvia stepping out of a hotel with Jonathan on
Henson Lamont’s phone.
And now, for the third time, she was here with Jonathan.
Estelle’s mind raced with questions. If Jonathan was Alvis, then who was Sylvia?
Were their previous encounters in M Country merely coincidence?
And what about now?
Sylvia turned back to her, a slight quirk to her lips, her voice low, “Every serendipitous meeting is the
result of someone’s exhaustive planning, Rella. You’re very lucky!”
Someone had been pulling strings, losing sleep over her!
Estelle suddenly understood Sylvia’s insinuation.
She was talking about Jonathan, hinting at the lengths he had gone through to find her.
Estelle felt a rush of clarity, sensing the girl’s intelligence. Was she trying to clear any misunderstanding
between her and Jonathan right off the bat?
Behind her mask, Estelle’s eyes shone with gratitude, “Thank you!”
“No need for thanks, we share a common goal!” Sylvia said with a meaningful smile.

At that moment, Alvis approached, seemingly headed for Sylvia, but his gaze was fixed on Estelle.
Estelle stood up as he neared, her lashes casting a shadow over her cheeks, her demeanor slightly
awkward, “I need to visit the ladies’ room. I’ll leave you two.”
With that, she left without daring to meet Jonathan’s eyes, feigning composure.
Jonathan felt a surge to reach out to her, but restraining himself at the sight of her tense profile, he
slowly clenched his fist instead.
Sylvia chuckled softly, “Estelle seems quite uneasy around you!”
Jonathan stood tall, his brows furrowed, “What did you two talk about?”
“You!” Sylvia grinned, “The first time I saw her, I found her both adorable and beautiful. But at that time,
I didn’t know about you two. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have taken Magdalen’s advice to test you.”
In hindsight, it seemed rather foolish.
“She is indeed adorable,” Jonathan sighed softly, his voice laced with fondness, “even if she doesn’t
always do as she’s told.”
